Atlanta Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez informed second baseman Dan Uggla Sunday that the team "had to make a change," according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's David O'Brien.
Uggla was told that his playing time moving forward is up in the air. He was out of the starting lineup on Monday for the Braves' game against the Rockies, with Martin Prado starting at second base and Jose Constanza in left field.
Uggla has hit .208/.340/.373 with 17 home runs in 533 plate appearances this season. He's leading the National League in walks (80) heading into Labor Day action.
Uggla's biggest struggles have come in recent weeks, as he has hit .182/.316/.331 in 177 plate appearances in the second half of the season.
