Eye on Photos: 2013 MLB All-Star Game

NEW YORK -- Let's run through the 2013 MLB All-Star Game in pictures. The American League won, 3-0, and Mariano Rivera took home the MVP, but some other stuff went down, so here we go.

The pre-game NYPD helicopter flyover with the giant flag on the field was a nice touch.
Hall of Famer and Mets legend Tom Seaver threw out the first pitch. David Wright caught it, and the two enjoyed the moment.
Mike Trout doubled on the first pitch of the game. Robinson Cano got hit with a pitch in the knee area and had to depart the game.
Max Scherzer only needed 12 pitches in a dominant first inning.  A little tomfoolery with Joe Mauer and David Wright.
One of the more impressive defensive plays was a double play where Brandon Phillips barehanded the feed from Troy Tulowitzki.
Hey, there was a mascot race, too.
The first run of the game came in the fourth inning, when Jose Bautista drove home Miguel Cabrera with a sacrifice fly.  The NL only recorded three hits, but David Wright pleased the home fans by getting one of them.
Andrew McCuthen recorded the only stolen base of the game.
The only RBI on a hit came in the eighth, when Jason Kipnis doubled home Salvador Perez.
The fans and AL dugout give Mariano Rivera a big ovation before the eighth inning. Price Fielder has only two triples since the start of 2010 (2,518 plate appearances). He tripled Tuesday.
Joe Nathan recorded the final out, gave Rivera the ball and then shared an embrace.  For the last time in All-Star Game history, a player wearing No. 42 exits the ballpark.
