The Giants activated outfielder Hunter Pence on Wednesday, placing first baseman Aubrey Huff on the disabled list with a knee injury to open up a roster spot, the club announced via Twitter.

Pence was acquired Tuesday in exchange for minor leaguers catcher Tommy Joseph and reliever Seth Rosin as well as major league outfielder Nate Schierholtz. Pence is hitting .271/.336/.447 on the season, slightly under his .290/.342/.481 career line and well under his .314/.370/.502 career season from 2011.

Huff has dealt with knee tendinitis all year and has played just 34 games, hitting .148/.284/.246 in 74 plate appearances.
