Major League Baseball completed its 2020 amateur draft on Thursday night. The spread of the novel coronavirus required the draft to be held virtually instead of in Omaha, Nebraska alongside the College World Series. The owners' desire to slash costs, meanwhile, led to the draft being shortened from 40 rounds to five.

With the 13th overall pick of the draft, the San Francisco Giants selected Patrick Bailey, a catcher out of NC State. We graded the Giants with a C for their overall draft effort.

The Giants had five picks in the top 100, and they used four of them on college players. That started with catcher Patrick Bailey, whose boosters believe could feature four average or better tools at maturation. It continued with powerful third baseman Casey Schmitt; potential three-pitch lefty Nick Swiney; and infielder Jimmy Glowneke. You could argue a team in San Francisco's position should have been more aggressive in swinging for ceiling, rather than mostly playing it safe for floor.

Below you'll find a draft tracker for the San Francisco Giants.
