The Yankees have granted outfielder Brennan Boesch his unconditional release.

Boesch, who hasn't appeared in the majors since May 30, was sent to Triple-A and was shortly thereafter sidelined with a shoulder injury. "The Yankees' decision to release Brennan Boesch is a matter of timing, not talent," Boesch's agent Brodie Van Wagenen told CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman. "Brennan's rehab on his shoulder is going well and he expects to be full strength and able to make a meaningful contribution to a major league team in August."

This season the 28-year-old Boesch batted a productive .275/.302/.529 in 53 plate appearances for the Yankees. For his career, Boesch owns an OPS+ of 97 with 45 homers in 403 games.
