  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Bulks up over offseason

Doyle put on 20 pounds of good weight since the end of the 2023 season, Patrick Lyons of TheDNVR.com reports.

Doyle made his big-league debut in 2023 and appeared in 126 games, all of which came in center field. He showed some intriguing power and speed potential, tallying 10 homers and 22 steals in 431 plate appearances. Doyle posted only a .140 ISO, so the added muscle could help him reach more power. However, his primary path to improved production would be cutting down on his 35 percent strikeout rate.

Doyle went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, an additional RBI and one steal in Saturday's loss to the Twins.

Doyle came through late for the Rockies, delivering a two-run homer in the seventh inning before plating another run on an RBI single in the eighth. Doyle has now logged three or more RBI in two of his last three games, a span in which he's batting 5-for-13 (.384).

  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Drives in four in win

Doyle went 2-for-5 with a triple, a double, four RBI and one run scored in Thursday's 14-5 win over the Dodgers.

Doyle knocked in two runs with each of his two hits in the contest. This was just his fifth multi-hit effort in 24 games in September, and he's batting .250 (20-for-80) for the month. That's better than his .199 mark on the year, which comes with a meager .584 OPS in 123 contests overall. Doyle has added nine home runs, 45 RBI, 46 runs scored and 20 stolen bases.

  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Reaches 20 thefts

Doyle went 2-for-4 with an RBI double and a stolen base in Saturday's 6-3 loss against the Cubs.

Doyle laced a run-scoring double in the second inning before bunting his way on and stealing second base in the fourth. Known best for his fielding prowess and speed, the 25-year-old outfielder showcased the latter once again Saturday, giving him 20 steals in his rookie campaign. In 118 games this season, Doyle is hitting .197 with 15 doubles, nine home runs, 41 RBI and 45 runs scored across 371 at-bats.

  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Mashes three-run blast

Doyle went 1-for-4 with a three-run homer in Sunday's 11-10 loss to the Giants.

Doyle smacked a 445-foot three-run homer to making it a 9-5 deficit for the Rockies in the sixth. It was Doyle's ninth home run of the year and his first since Aug. 15. The rookie started in all seven games for the Rockies over the last week and tallied six RBI over that span and should hold down a near-everyday role in center field to close out the season.

  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Sits third straight

Doyle is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.

It's the third straight game on the bench for Doyle, who started the previous 35 contests coming into this stretch. The 25-year-old posted a .483 OPS in 118 at-bats during that span, and the Rockies are rolling with Sean Bouchard, Nolan Jones, Hunter Goodman and Charlie Blackmon between the three outfield spots and designated hitter for the third consecutive game.

  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Sitting Saturday

Doyle isn't in the Rockies' lineup Saturday against the Giants.

Doyle has been working his way out of a slump lately, going 5-for-20 with four RBI and three runs scored since the beginning of September. He'll take a seat Saturday while Sean Bouchard, Nolan Jones and Hunter Goodman start in Colorado's outfield.

  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: In midst of slump

Doyle went 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored Friday against the Blue Jays.

Doyle entered the game hitless across his last three starts and managed to snap that stretch with a double in the ninth inning. However, he's still failed to record a multi-hit game across his last 22 starts dating back to Aug. 7. In that span, he's hit only .128, yet he's maintained consistent playing time in center field.

  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Swats eighth homer

Doyle went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 8-5 loss against Arizona.

Doyle tagged Luis Frias for a go-ahead two-run homer in the seventh inning, marking his eighth long ball of the season and the first since July 23. The round-tripper was a much-needed tase of success for Doyle, who's 3-for-28 (.107) with 14 strikeouts over his last nine games. Despite his recent struggles, Doyle remains the clear option at center field for the Rockies.

  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Scores lone run in win

Doyle went 2-for-2 with a double, a hit-by-pitch, a stolen base and a run scored in Sunday's 1-0 win over the Cardinals.

Doyle was able to get on base in all three of his plate appearances, extending his hitting streak to five games in the process. The outfielder slumped after the All-Star break, but regaining a clear path to playing time in center field following the trade of Randal Grichuk to the Angels has seemingly done wonders for Doyle's play. The 25-year-old rookie is up to 15 steals, seven home runs, nine doubles, 26 RBI and 32 runs scored while slashing .206/.268/.343 over 78 contests this season.

  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Path to playing time clears up

Doyle will start in center field and bat eighth in Wednesday's game against the Padres.

Doyle had already been seeing fairly steady playing time in the outfield since the All-Star break in the absence of both Charlie Blackmon (hand) and Kris Bryant (finger), but the Rockies' recent trade of Randal Grichuk to the Angels should free up center field for Doyle even when Blackmon and Bryant return to action. Doyle will man center for a fourth consecutive game, even while he remains in an extended funk at the plate. Thus far in the second half, Doyle is hitting just .133/.204/.244 with one home run and two stolen bases while striking out at a 42.9 percent clip.

  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Nabs fourth straight start

Doyle will start in center field and bat eighth in Wednesday's game against the Nationals.

Coming out of the All-Star break, Doyle appeared to be at risk of shifting into more of a part-time role, but he should be in store for steady playing time after Kris Bryant (finger) joined Charlie Blackmon (hand) on the 10-day injured list Tuesday. While starting in all but one of the Rockies' games so far in the second half, Doyle is batting just .179 but has provided a home run and two stolen bases.

  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Strong showing in win

Doyle went 1-for-2 with a double, a walk, two RBI, a stolen base and a run scored in Friday's 7-2 win over the Yankees.

Doyle's playing time slipped before the All-Star break after a poor June, but he got the nod in center field to begin the second half. The speedy outfielder is up to 13 steals this season, including three over his last nine games, despite batting just .217 (5-for-23) in that span. Doyle has a .216/.277/.364 slash line with six home runs, 24 RBI, 27 runs scored, six doubles and a triple over 196 plate appearances. He'll need to hit a bit better to keep getting consistent work, as the Rockies enjoy relatively strong outfield health at the moment with five players competing for three spots.

  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Takes seat again Wednesday

Doyle is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros.

After sitting out Tuesday's 4-1 loss while right-hander Brandon Bielak was on the mound for Houston, Doyle will remain on the bench while the Astros bring another righty (J.P. France) to the bump for the series finale. The Rockies haven't disclosed that Doyle is dealing with an injury, so he may simply be the odd man out of a suddenly crowded outfield following Kris Bryant's recent return from the injured list. Randal Grichuk will cover center field in place of Doyle, who's loss of playing time comes while he's slashed an unremarkable. 190/.264/.278 since the beginning of June.

  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Notches 12th steal

Doyle went 0-for-3 with a stolen base and a run scored in Friday's 8-5 win over the Tigers.

Doyle will close June with no multi-hit efforts over his last 23 games of the month. His best skill remains his speed -- he stole five bags in June, putting him at 12 for the season. He's added a .213/.270/.363 slash line with six home runs, 20 RBI and 23 runs scored over 53 contests while serving in a near-everyday role since late April.

Doyle is out of the lineup Thursday against the Dodgers.

Randal Grichuk will start in center field and bat seventh as the Rockies take on the Dodgers and right-hander Emmet Sheehan. Doyle tallied his 11th stolen base of the year Wednesday but is slashing just .175/.254/.286 over his last 20 games (71 plate appearances) dating back to the first week of June.
