Knicks' Tyler Nickel: Paces New York in SL loss
Nickel registered 16 points (6-14 FG, 4-11 3Pt, 0-1 FT), two rebounds, two blocks and one assist over 30 minutes in Saturday's 70-49 Summer League loss to the Spurs.
While the Knicks struggled offensively as a team, Nickel was a bright spot, leading the way with 16 points fueled by a game-high four triples. The rookie is regarded as a high-level outside scorer after knocking down 40.0 percent of his three-point attempts on 7.6 tries per game across 36 appearances with Vanderbilt during the 2025-26 collegiate season.

Knicks' Tyler Nickel: Hits six triples in SL loss
Nickel racked up 18 points (6-11 FG, 6-10 3Pt, 0-1 FT) and four rebounds across 22 minutes in Friday's 91-65 Summer League loss to the Nets.
Nickel caught fire from beyond the arc Friday, especially in the fourth quarter, when he knocked down all three of his three-point tries. The No. 47 overall pick in this year's draft finished as New York's second-leading scorer while connecting on a game-high six triples. His three-point shooting could be a useful tool for the defending champions, though he's far from guaranteed a consistent role with the Knicks.

Knicks' Tyler Nickel: Heading to New York
The Suns selected Nickel with the No. 47 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft and traded him to the Knicks.
The Knicks were very busy shuffling picks during the draft, acquiring the No. 47 selection in the deal that sent Koa Peat to Phoenix. Nickel will head to New York after spending the final two years of his college career at Vanderbilt. Across 36 starts in 2025-26, he averaged 13.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 0.8 steals while shooting 40.0 percent from beyond the arc in 30.5 minutes per contest. The sharpshooter is far from guaranteed a consistent role with the defending champions.
