A year after hitting free agency and choosing the Patriots over Rex Ryan in a lame-duck season, Darrelle Revis is headed back to the team that drafted him, teaming up with a new front office and new coaching staff in the Big Apple.

Here are five things to know about the Revis reunion.

1. The money: We don't know the details yet but this is going to be a big, big deal if Woody Johnson was able to lure Revis away from a chance at winning another Super Bowl with the Patriots (let's not sugarcoat it, playing for the Pats is the best opportunity for a ring in the NFL). Rumors circulated that Revis was staring at something in the neighborhood of three years, $48 million with $40 million guaranteed. It wouldn't be surprising if Revis landed that, or even something north of that considering the jump he just made.

2. The scheme: We asked Todd Bowles at the combine if he said he was planning to blitz, and he said he would if it worked. It's going to work now, kids. Having Revis there to lock down No. 1 receivers in man coverage makes it a lot easier to send guys at opposing quarterbacks. The Jets have the talent on the defensive line to generate pressure without being too exotic, and they've also added another cornerback in Buster Skrine. Don't rule out Antonio Cromartie, too, if only for the full-blown reunion tour in New York. Bowles is a heck of a coach -- look what he did with an incredibly banged-up roster in Arizona last year -- and he's got some players on defense to really do some work.

3. Division dagger: Crushing blow for other AFC East teams. The Patriots loved having Revis on the roster, and it resulted in a Super Bowl. Tom Brady is the impetus for all good things that happen to New England but don't discount the impact of the defense on their championship. The Patriots will be just fine, but it stings losing Revis (back) to a rival.

Hurts for the Bills, too, because you know Rex Ryan has a jilted-lover thing going if he's watching Revis play for the Jets again. The Bills were rumored to be involved with Revis at one point. They probably helped drive up the price and surely they had a real shot, but it's got to hurt watching your best friend date your ex-wife.

4. B-E-A-G-G …: Remember last off-season when the Jets were meek, timid movers in the off-season? Yeah, Mike Maccagnan is not John Idzik. He's getting loose this off-season, trading for Brandon Marshall and landing the biggest fish in free agency. Winning is the only thing that will endear yourself to Jets supporters but the fan base has to be absolutely pumped with what Maccagnan has done so far in terms of being aggressive and acquiring talent. He still needs a quarterback and he paid David Harris a lot of money, but give him an A for his work thus far in taking the Jets from a bottom 10 team to a roster that's starting to look a little dangerous.

5. Face of the franchise: Really wonder how much the idea of being "the guy" in New York matters to Revis. He wasn't "Revis Island" with the Patriots because people don't do that with the Pats. New England is a huge market but New York is the market. Revis is back to being the guy now in the biggest market in America and he's the biggest star on the team. Money is probably the biggest factor but this landing spot definitely provides a boost to Revis' personal brand.
