Seahawks 2020 schedule: Predicting every game, matchup odds, opponent win totals, record projection
Seattle should once again compete in one of the NFL's most competitive divisions
Despite looking up to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC West last year, the Seattle Seahawks were able to claw their way to the postseason and beat the Eagles on Wild Card Weekend, but they fell to Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers in the Divisional Round. With the 2019 season in the rearview mirror, Seattle is looking to take an even bigger leap this year and get back to the Super Bowl where Russell Wilson and head coach Pete Carroll can win their second title together.
With the 2020 regular season schedule now out, we know the path ahead for Seattle as they try to get back as one of the NFC's elite clubs. According to the latest odds from William Hill Sports Book, the Seahawks have an over/under win total of 9.5, and below you'll see if they get over that mark in our way-too-early, week-by-week prediction of the 2020 season. Along with seeing our prediction for each game, you'll get odds for each team and the early lines for Week 1 and Week 2.
Week 1 at Falcons
Line: Seahawks -1
Opponent win total: O/U 7.5
Prediction: The Seahawks start the season on the road and, with Matt Ryan back under center for the Falcons, the Seattle secondary will struggle a bit in the opener. Luckily for them, Russell Wilson will find D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Locker on a number of deep balls to help Seattle secure the 24-20 win in their first game of 2020.
Projected record: 1-0
Week 2 vs. Patriots
Line: Seahawks -4
Opponent win total: O/U 9
Prediction: New England will still be working second-year quarterback Jarrett Stidham into the offense as they begin the post-Tom Brady era and Seattle will be able to take advantage of this transition period for Bill Belichick's squad. Stidham will struggle in primetime (Sunday Night Football) after flying across the country and fall into a couple of interceptions. Russell Wilson, meanwhile, will have some troubles going against New England defense, but ultimately finds a way to victory. Seahawks win 24-13.
Projected record: 2-0
Week 3 vs. Cowboys
Opponent win total: O/U 9.5
Prediction: Dallas was able to reload the offseason this offseason by adding receiver CeeDee Lamb to what was already an elite unit featuring Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup. As long as quarterback Dak Prescott is playing under his franchise tag (or extension) and not holding out, the Cowboys will be able to gash the Seattle secondary and run the ball well with Ezekiel Elliott. Cowboys win 27-20.
Projected record: 2-1
Week 4 at Dolphins
Opponent win total: O/U 6
Prediction: This could be looked at as a trap game for Seattle as they have to fly across the country to square off against a retooled Miami defense that now features the likes of corner Bryon Jones and linebacker Kyle Van Noy, but I see Russell Wilson showcasing his full talents in this one. He'll hit the deep ball on a number of occasions, be efficient with this throws underneath, and even find the endzone with his legs. I don't expect rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa to be starting under center yet for Miami and Ryan Fitzpatrick won't be able to outduel Wilson here. Seahawks win 30-10.
Projected record: 3-1
Week 5 vs. Vikings
Opponent win total: O/U 9
Prediction: The Vikings may pose some issues for the Seahawks defense in this one after dropping 30 points against them last year, but similar to that 2019 contest I expect Seattle to still come out with a win before the bye. We all know that Kirk Cousins often struggles in primetime and heading to Seattle (fans or not) will likely make this matchup that much more difficult for the Vikings veteran quarterback. Seahawks win 17-14.
Projected record: 4-1
Week 7 at Cardinals
Opponent win total: O/U 7
Prediction: Coming out of the bye, the Seahawks get their first crack at their division-rival Cardinals and second-year phenom Kyler Murray. Now that star receiver DeAndre Hopkins is slotted into this offense, I expect this group to be extremely potent. However, it won't be Hopkins who does most of the damage in this one. Instead, it'll be running back Kenyan Drake, who gashes Seattle on the ground, similar to his 166-yard and two-touchdown performance in Week 16 last year. Cardinals win 21-13.
Projected record: 4-2
Week 8 vs. 49ers
Opponent win total: O/U 10.5
Prediction: The 49ers are the top dog in the NFC West until further notice, but Seattle bounces back nicely this week after falling to Arizona last time out. San Francisco is in position to potentially take a step back in 2020 after that demoralizing loss to the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIV and they'll be coming to play in this game after taking on the Patriots in New England the week before. Wilson will outgun Jimmy Garoppolo in what should be a high-flying display of offense. Seahawks win 33-30.
Projected record: 5-2
Week 9 at Bills
Opponent win total: O/U 9
Prediction: After that clutch win over San Francisco, the Seahawks are sort of gassed and it shows as they have to fly across the country to face the Bills in Buffalo. Sean McDermott's team is a bit of a hit-or-miss squad, but, with wide receiver Stefon Diggs now in the offense, I expect Buffalo to be able to put up points in a hurry, while the defense will put Wilson on the ground much more than once. Bills win 23-10.
Projected record: 5-3
Week 10 at Rams
Opponent win total: O/U 8.5
Prediction: This is simply a brutal stretch for Seattle. They're not only flying back-and-forth across America but are taking on some pretty tough opponents. I expect the Rams to be much more competitive than the 9-7 squad we saw last season, but Seattle finds a way to win this one to help keep pace with the 49ers atop the division. Wilson gets beat up a ton by Aaron Donald and the L.A. pass rush but is able to find paydirt three times through the air. Seahawks win 27-21.
Projected record: 6-3
Week 11 vs. Cardinals
Opponent win total: O/U 7
Prediction: After losing their earlier matchup to the Cards in Arizona, Seattle comes into this Thursday Night Football contest extremely motivated. The secondary is able to pick off Kyler Murray a couple of times and Tyler Lockett has himself a night, catching a touchdown and going over 100 yards receiving. Seahawks win 23-13.
Projected record: 7-3
Week 12 at Eagles
Opponent win total: O/U 9.5
Prediction: Seattle gets a little bit of an extended break after playing on Thursday night and not having to hit the field again until their Monday Night Football matchup in Philadelphia against the Eagles. Carson Wentz and company have a little extra incentive for this contest after the quarterback was knocked out of their Wild Card loss to Seattle last postseason. They come into this contest with ferocity and are able to get the revenge win. Eagles win 20-10.
Projected record: 7-4
Week 13 vs. Giants
Opponent win total: O/U 6.5
Prediction: This is where the Seahawks finally catch a break in the schedule. Despite securing franchise quarterback Daniel Jones last year at the draft, the Giants are still a rebuilding team as they now boast first-year head coach Joe Judge. Seattle should make quick work of this squad, succeeding on the ground with Carlos Hyde and Chris Carson. Seahawks win 24-14.
Projected record: 8-4
Week 14 vs. Jets
Opponent win total: O/U 6.5
Prediction: Sam Darnold and the Jets offense simply cannot keep pace with Wilson and company on this day. New York spent a bulk of the offseason securing the offensive line and Darnold remains upright throughout the afternoon but doesn't have the horses in the receiving game to go toe-to-toe with Metcalf, Lockett and Seattle's wide array of tight ends. Seahawks win 20-9.
Projected record: 9-4
Week 15 at Redskins
Opponent win total: O/U 5.5
Prediction: Washington's pass rush with first-rounder Chase Young will give Russell Wilson and the Seahawks offensive line fits, but the Redskins offense with Dwayne Haskins isn't where it needs to be to go up against one of the game's elite quarterbacks. Haskins is picked off twice and the Washington running game with Arian Peterson doesn't do much to offer any relief for the young signal-caller. Seahawks win 24-10.
Projected record: 10-4
Week 16 vs. Rams
Opponent win total: O/U 8.5
Prediction: Jared Goff actually outplays Russell Wilson in this one, but it's hardly the quarterback's fault as the offensive line's inability to contain Aaron Donald completely derails the offense in the first half. They are able to patch things up coming out of halftime and Wilson has a clutch drive in the fourth quarterback to set up a game-winning field goal. Seahawks win 27-24.
Projected record: 11-4
Week 17 at 49ers
Opponent win total: O/U 10.5
Prediction: That game-winner last week against Los Angeles sets up another Week 17 showdown that will once again determine the NFC West title. Unlike last year that went it came down to the wire, San Francisco has a pretty easy time against the Seahawks at home and the game is pretty much over by the time the fourth quarter hits. Richard Sherman gets an interception of his former team to really place a dagger in Seattle's hopes to claim the division. 49ers win 24-14.
Projected record: 11-5
