  • Giants' Daniel Jones: Likely for action vs. Bengals

Coach Brian Daboll said Monday he intends for the Giants' first-team offense and Jones to play in Sunday's preseason contest against the Bengals, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports.

Daboll said he hasn't yet determined how many series Jones and the first-team offense will handle in New York's second exhibition. Jones handled the first two offensive drives during the preseason opener against New England, so he and the starting unit could be in line for a similar amount of work Sunday when the Giants host the Bengals.

  • Giants' Daniel Jones: Plays two drives against Patriots

Jones completed six of 10 passes for 69 yards and rushed once for six yards in Thursday's 23-21 preseason win over the Patriots. He didn't have a touchdown or turnover while playing the first two series.

Jones got the offense down to New England's seven-yard line on the opening drive, but the Giants ended up settling for a field goal before punting on the second possession. This was an unremarkable start to the preseason for Jones under new coach Brian Daboll, but he's still locked in as the Giants' starting quarterback. Jones will likely see a similar workload in the team's second preseason game at home against the Bengals on Aug. 21.

  • Giants' Daniel Jones: In line to see action Thursday

Jones is slated to play in Thursday's preseason opener against the Patriots, Michael Giardi of NFL Network reports.

It remains to be seen how long Jones will be in the game, but Dan Duggan of The Athletic speculates that the Giants' healthy starters "could play as little as a series or as much as a quarter," depending on how they fare early on in the contest. Once Jones exits the game, Tyrod Taylor and Davis Webb are next in line for the team's QB reps.

  • Giants' Daniel Jones: Has rough day in camp

Jones went 5-for-15 with a pair of interceptions during scrimmage in training camp Monday, per Jordan Raanan of

The blame isn't all on Jones' shoulders -- New York pass catchers had multiple drops in practice, and the entire offense is learning a new system -- but it's nonetheless not promising that Jones thus far hasn't looked good in camp. Tyrod Taylor even got a rep with the first-team offense Monday, though it's unlikely that anyone but Jones will be under center when the season starts. New head coach Brian Daboll is bringing a new offense that offers reason to be optimistic, but Jones may have to prove that he can be the answer at quarterback to keep his job the entire season.

  • Giants' Daniel Jones: Improving in practice

Jones had his best day of training camp Tuesday, according to Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record and Dan Duggan of The Athletic.

Stapleton reports that Jones completed 16 of 20 passes on a day where the situational focus was on third-and-longs, though the QB did also throw two interceptions to CB Adoree' Jackson. The situation in New York is a bit different this year, as the quarterback seemingly faces a make-or-break season with new head coach Brian Daboll not necessarily tied to Jones. There's also some hope for the rest of the offense to rebound, with offseason additions including first-round pick Evan Neal at right tackle and second-round pick Wan'Dale Robinson at wide receiver. Healthier years from RB Saquon Barkley and WRs Kenny Golladay and Kadarius Toney could also go a long way toward giving Jones a decent supporting case for the first time in his career.
