Titans' 2020 schedule: Predicting every game, week-by-week odds, matchups, projections
Running through all 16 games on Tennessee's regular season slate
The Tennessee Titans are coming off of an incredible season in which they found themselves just a couple of quarters away from representing the AFC in Super Bowl LIV. Both Ryan Tannehill and Derrick Henry made the 2019 campaign one to remember for Titans fans, and general manager Jon Robinson made the decision to keep both on roster heading into 2020. Still, one has to wonder if last year was a fluke, or if the Titans really are ready to challenge the likes of the Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC.
The Titans really didn't lose many important pieces this offseason. While they traded Jurrell Casey away, they signed former Atlanta Falcons pass rusher Vic Beasley to get some help on the outside. Tennessee lost right tackle Jack Conklin in free agency, but drafted former Georgia offensive tackle Isaiah Wilson with their top pick. The Titans also parted ways with No. 1 cornerback Logan Ryan, but then drafted former LSU cornerback Kristian Fulton with their second round pick. Delanie Walker is no longer a Titan, but Jonnu Smith appears ready to step into the starting role at tight end. The Titans did their best to make up for any losses they were expecting this offseason, but it remains to be seen if they improved enough to make another deep postseason run.
Below, we will break down every game on the Titans' schedule this upcoming season. Can Mike Vrabel get this team back into the postseason and maybe even into the Super Bowl?

The Titans' O/U is 8.5:
Week 1 at Denver Broncos
Line: Broncos -2
Opponent win total: O/U 7.5
The Broncos' offense could be downright scary in 2020. There's no doubt that this team got better in the offseason, but I don't think it warrants being a two-point favorite over the team that made the AFC Championship game last year. Could this primetime season opener serve as a coming-out party for the Broncos? Absolutely. But I think it might take a couple of weeks for all of this young talent to find a rhythm. This game is somewhat personal for Tannehill. The 16-0 loss in Week 6 last year marked the end of the Marcus Mariota era and the beginning of the Tannehill era. The disgraced Dolphin has reemerged with a lucrative new contract, and he needs to prove that 2019 wasn't just a one-year success story.
Prediction: 27-23, Titans
Projected record: 1-0
Week 2 vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
Line: Titans -11
Opponent win total: O/U 4.5
Last year, the Jaguars beat the Titans for the first time since 2016. Unfortunately, I think the 2020 season is going to be another year where the Titans sweep the season series. Gardner Minshew may be the future under center for the Jaguars, but Doug Marrone has plenty of work to do on this roster. Tennessee returns home after a big primetime win in Week 1, and they will use that momentum to remain undefeated to start the season.
Prediction: 31-21, Titans
Projected record: 2-0
Week 3 at Minnesota Vikings
Opponent win total: O/U 9
Kirk Cousins got off to a nice start during his second season with the Vikings. Minnesota started off 6-2, finished 10-6 and made it all the way to the divisional round in the postseason. They even took down Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints in overtime in the wild-card round. While they traded Stefon Diggs away, they did draft Justin Jefferson in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft to replace him. I expect Cousins and Dalvin Cook to play well enough in Week 3 to hand the Titans their first loss of the season.
Prediction: 28-20, Vikings
Projected record: 2-1
Week 4 vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
Opponent win total: O/U 9
This is when the Titans struggle a bit. With Ben Roethlisberger back, the Steelers are out to prove that they are still a team to beat in the AFC. I expect both JuJu Smith-Schuster and James Conner to have bounce-back seasons, and Mike Tomlin also did a great job picking up some talented weapons at wide receiver and running back in the draft as well. Quickly, the Titans go from 2-0 to 2-2.
Prediction: 23-17, Steelers
Projected record: 2-2
Week 5 vs. Buffalo Bills
Opponent win total: O/U 9
Unfortunately, things go from bad to worse for the Titans in Week 5. The Bills are a favorite to win the AFC East for good reason. They have a versatile quarterback in Josh Allen, finally some talent at wide receiver and a strong defense. Buffalo isn't the sexiest team to watch, but they always seemed to get the job done and won 10 games last season. The Bills have won the last three against the Titans in low-scoring games. They make it four straight in Week 5.
Prediction: 21-20, Bills
Projected record: 2-3
Week 6 vs. Houston Texans
Opponent win total: O/U 8
The Titans now have a losing record and the national media is ready to stick a knife in Tennessee's 2020 campaign. They have a big chance to rebound and acquire their second divisional win in Week 6 at home, however, and the Titans are going to get a much-needed victory. Tannehill throws four touchdowns as the Titans finally impress after a three-game losing streak.
Prediction: 38-21, Titans
Projected record: 3-3
Week 8 at Cincinnati Bengals
Opponent win total: O/U 5.5
Like everyone else, I'm excited to see how the Bengals do with Joe Burrow under center, but I don't think they are exactly a playoff team. After a big win to get back to .500, the Titans secure another win in the Queen City thanks to a big game from Henry.
Prediction: 25-14, Titans
Projected record: 4-3
Week 9 vs. Chicago Bears
Opponent win total: O/U 8
It's hard to get a feel on what the Bears will be capable of this season, and it's even tougher to predict who will be starting under center come Week 9. Tennessee knows they have a huge divisional showdown coming on a short week after their matchup with Chicago, but they don't overlook the Bears. Fulton records his first career interception as the Titans reel off three straight wins.
Prediction: 28-20, Titans
Projected record: 5-3
Week 10 vs. Indianapolis Colts
Opponent win total: O/U 9
This is easily the toughest stretch for Tennessee. The Colts are the biggest threat to the Titans when it comes to winning the division, and they face off twice in three weeks. Additionally, they have to take on the Ravens in between those two matchups -- who are out for blood after being upset in the playoffs last year. I say the Colts and Titans split the season series, but the Titans lose the first matchup at home.
No matter your opinion on Philip Rivers, this Colts team has a chance to be very good in 2020. The sheer amount of injuries they suffered last season opened the door for Tennessee to get into the postseason in 2019, but this is a team to keep your eye on if they can remain healthy.
Prediction: 27-24, Colts
Projected record: 5-4
Week 11 at Baltimore Ravens
Opponent win total: O/U 11.5
The Ravens were embarrassed by the Titans in January. The 9-7 wild-card team came into Baltimore and took down the NFL MVP and the 14-2 Ravens, 28-12. The Titans may have been a team of destiny at that point, but John Harbaugh's squad already has this game circled on their calendars. Baltimore's offense is better, its defense is better and they are going to get their revenge at home come Week 11. Maybe we will have another rematch in the postseason.
Prediction: 38-24, Ravens
Projected record: 5-5
Week 12 at Indianapolis Colts
Opponent win total: O/U 9
The Titans are back to .500 and they need a huge win to get back on track in a very tight AFC South race. As previously stated, the Titans split the series and get a win here in Week 12.
Prediction: 20-17, Titans
Projected record: 6-5
Week 13 vs. Cleveland Browns
Opponent win total: O/U 8.5
At this point in the season, believe it or not the Browns will have a winning record and will be battling with the Steelers for second place in the AFC North. Cleveland may even end up being favored in this matchup. Just like last season, however, the Titans are motivated to put together a bit of a winning streak at the end of the regular season, and they make it two in a row with an impressive win over Baker Mayfield.
Prediction: 30-23, Titans
Projected record: 7-5
Week 14 at Jacksonville Jaguars
Opponent win total: O/U 4.5
Now 7-5, the Titans know they have some work to do in their last few games of the season. Unfortunately, the lowly Jaguars are in their way in Week 14.
Prediction: 40-24, Titans
Projected record: 8-5
Week 15 vs. Detroit Lions
Opponent win total: O/U 6.5
The Titans are simply a better team than the Lions and they are also riding a three-game winning streak. They make it four straight wins as Henry continues to pick up steam and closes in on Ezekiel Elliott -- who is currently the NFL's leading rusher.
Prediction: 27-15, Titans
Projected record: 9-5
Week 16 at Green Bay Packers
Opponent win total: O/U 9
Big trap game right here in Week 16 for the Titans. The Packers are going to have another strong season and could end up representing the NFC in the Super Bowl. Aaron Rodgers is motivated after Green Bay selected quarterback Jordan Love in the first round and he's going to show the NFL world that he still has plenty of tread left on the tires.
Prediction: 30-21, Packers
Projected record: 9-6
Week 17 at Houston Texans
Opponent win total: O/U 8
In my hypothetical scenario, the Texans have recently been officially eliminated from the playoffs and don't have the desire to end their rival's season on a sour note. The Titans rebound from the Packers' loss with a win in the regular-season finale.
William Hill currently has the Titans' over/under win total listed at 8.5, and they cover with a 10-6 record. For the first time since 2008, the Titans will win the AFC South. While that's great for Vrabel and Co., it's going to be hard to get back to the AFC Championship game. Baltimore and Kansas City appear to be the top teams in the conference, but Tennessee surprised us last season in the playoffs, so maybe they can do it again.
Projected record: 10-6
