  • Panthers' Andre Roberts: Signs one-year deal with Carolina

The Panthers signed Roberts to a one-year deal Monday, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site reports.

Roberts has caught just 19 passes over the last five seasons, but he's a proven return man, which was a glaring need for Carolina this offseason. The veteran has six career return touchdowns, including a 101-yard kickoff return against the Broncos last season.

  • Chargers' Andre Roberts: Activated off reserve/COVID-19 list

Roberts was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list Tuesday, Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times reports.

The wide receiver missed Week 16 after testing positive for COVID-19 last Monday. Roberts will be back returning kicks for the Chargers in Week 17 against the Broncos, a spot where he has logged a total of 429 return yards.

  • Chargers' Andre Roberts: Lands on COVID-19 list

The Chargers placed Roberts on the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday.

According to Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times, head coach Brandon Staley labeled Roberts as day-to-day, which would seem to suggest that the 33-year-old wideout is on the list as a vaccinated player that tested positive for the virus. Per the NFL's new COVID-19 protocols, Roberts will be eligible to rejoin the team as soon as he's deemed to be asymptomatic. Roberts thus has an outside shot of gaining clearance prior to Sunday's game against the Texans. He's appeared in eight games for Los Angeles since signing with the team in October, carrying three times for 19 yards and logging no targets while making his biggest impact for the Chargers as a return man.

  • Chargers' Andre Roberts: Signs with Chargers

Roberts signed a contract with the Chargers on Thursday.

Roberts was let go by the Texans on Monday but will now have a week and a half to learn the Chargers' system prior to the Week 8 matchup against the Patriots on Oct. 31. He'll presumably serve as the primary kick returner if Nasir Adderley (hip) is unable to return after the bye week.

  • Andre Roberts: Drawing interest from Chargers

The Chargers are expected to sign Roberts on Wednesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Roberts was released by the Texans on Monday and appears to have quickly found a new team. Nasir Adderley, the Chargers primary kick returner and starting free safety, had to leave Week 6 early with a hip injury, so if Roberts is signed, he may take over return duties when the Chargers return from their bye week.

  • Andre Roberts: Let go by Houston

Roberts was released by the Texans on Monday, Aaron Wilson of Sportstalk 790 Houston reports.

Roberts was utilized primarily as a kick and punt returner through the first six weeks of the season, racking up 386 kick-return yards and 33 punt-return yards. He also hauled in one catch for 35 yards. Roberts will now look for work elsewhere following a brief stint with his seventh different NFL team.

  • Texans' Andre Roberts: Should help replace Amendola

Roberts is expected to see more reps in three-receiver sets Sunday against the Patriots with Danny Amendola (thigh) inactive for the contest, Aaron Wilson of Sportstalk 790 Houston reports.

Houston's decision to release Anthony Miller earlier this week hinted that Amendola would likely be ready to play after missing the previous two contests, but the veteran slot man will ultimately sit out another game. Brandin Cooks and Chris Conley are locked in as starting receivers for Houston, and Roberts looks like the top candidate to fill out the No. 3 wideout spot ahead of Chris Moore and Davion Davis, who have combined to play just two snaps on offense this season. Roberts, meanwhile, has played 22 offensive snaps through Houston's first four games, recording a 35-yard reception across two targets.

  • Texans' Andre Roberts: Forced into duty

Roberts caught one of two targets for 35 yards in Sunday's 31-21 loss to Cleveland.

Roberts has played fewer than 200 offensive snaps in each season since 2016, but he was forced into action Sunday after injuries to Nico Collins (shoulder) and Danny Amendola (hamstring). This is the byproduct of carrying five running backs on the 53-man roster; the Texans only have six players listed as wide receivers, even though Roberts is really a return specialist. Collins and Amendola joined Anthony Miller, who was healthy but inactive after dealing with a shoulder injury during the preseason, on the sidelines, forcing Houston offensive coordinator Tim Kelly to adapt.
