Nunez-Roches' absence from Wednesday's practice comes as no surprise, as the veteran defensive lineman missed the Giants' Week 14 loss to the Saints due to neck and shoulder injuries. The 31-year-old likely needs to upgrade to at least limited practice Thursday or Friday in order to play in Week 15, when the Giants host the Ravens.

Nunez-Roches (neck/shoulder) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Saints.
Nunez-Roches suffered neck and shoulder injuries during the Giants' Thanksgiving Day loss to the Cowboys. The injuries prevented him from practicing all week, and the 2015 sixth-round pick will shift his focus toward returning for Week 15 against the Ravens on Sunday, Dec. 15. The Giants' defensive front has been decimated by injuries, so with Nunez-Roches sidelined, Dexter Lawrence (elbow) on injured reserve and D.J. Davidson (shoulder) unlikely to play Sunday, Cory Durden -- who the Giants signed off the Rams' practice squad Sunday -- is in line to make his 2024 regular-season debut next to starters Elijah Chatman and Jordon Riley.

Giants' Rakeem Nunez-Roches: Posts 26 stops over 16 games
Nunez-Roches recorded 26 tackles (14 solo), including a half-sack, over 16 contests during the 2023 campaign.
Nunez-Roches was brought in during the offseason to serve as veteran depth along New York's defensive line. He filled that role as expected, notching the second-highest tackle total of his nine-year career while missing just one game. Durability has been a strength of Nunez-Roches' -- he's missed just two regular-season contests over the past five campaigns -- but he's not much of a pass-rusher and isn't looked to as a difference-maker on defense. His contract goes through 2025, and it's likely he'll be back with the Giants as a rotational run-stopper next year.
