Panthers' Robbie Anderson: Dealing with quad injury
Head coach Matt Rhule said Wednesday that Anderson isn't practicing due to a quadriceps injury, Doug Kyed of Pro Football Focus reports.
Anderson only has a handful of days to recover before Friday's preseason game against the Patriots, seemingly making him an unlikely candidate to suit up for that contest. The severity of the veteran wideout's injury is uncertain, but as long as Anderson remains away from the practice field, Terrace Marshall and Rashard Higgins will benefit from increased first-team reps.

Panthers' Robbie Anderson: Making strides in camp
Anderson has done well improving his grasp of the Panthers offense during training camp, according to coach Matt Rhule, Augusta Stone of the team's official site reports.
Anderson has been acclimating to new quarterback Baker Mayfield, who is competing with Sam Darnold for Carolina's starting job, as well as new coordinator Ben McAdoo. Along with flashing speed for Mayfield downfield, the wideout's growing knowledge of McAdoo's scheme has drawn praise early on. Coming off a down season of just 53 catches on 110 targets for 519 yards and five scores in 17 games, Anderson will hope to bounce back this season with the help of some new faces around him.

Panthers' Robbie Anderson: Now a target for Mayfield
Anderson could benefit from new quarterback Baker Mayfield's effectiveness on deep passes, Joseph Person of The Atlantic reports.
Anderson had mixed responses regarding Carolina's reported interest in Mayfield over the offseason, but with the Panthers acquiring the signal-caller recently, the pair will now actually work together. Although Mayfield will compete with Sam Darnold to be named the team's starter, Anderson should be a prominent target for both signal-callers. After merely 53 catches on 110 targets with Darnold last term, Anderson will hope to improve that connection while building a rapport with Mayfield as all parties strive to rebound from underwhelming 2021 campaigns.
