  • Cardinals' Chandler Jones: Comes off COVID list

The Cardinals reinstated Jones (illness) from the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports.

Jones thus is on track to return to the lineup Thursday against the Packers after missing the Cardinals' last two games following a positive COVID-19 test. The star edge rusher cleared all protocols and was eligible to play in this past week's win over the Texans, but the Cardinals elected to err on the side of caution and keep him off the 53-man roster for a little longer while he worked to regain conditioning. Through his first five appearances this season, Jones tallied nine tackles, five sacks, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.

  • Cardinals' Chandler Jones: Won't play Sunday

Jones (illness) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Texans, Doug Kyed of Pro Football Focus reports.

Jones returned to the team facility to work out Friday, but he'll remain on the reserve/COVID-19 list for a second consecutive week. His next chance to suit up will be Thursday against the Packers.

  • Cardinals' Chandler Jones: Back at team facility

Cardinals defensive coordinator Vance Joseph said that Jones (illness) worked out Friday at the team facility, but the star edge rusher's status for Sunday's game against the Texans hasn't been determined, Alex Weiner of reports.

Jones remains on the reserve/COVID-19 list after testing positive for the virus Oct. 12. While his presence at the team facility suggested he's completed his quarantine and has cleared all health and safety protocols, Jones experienced symptoms of the virus and may need more time to regain conditioning. The Cardinals will presumably reassess Jones on Saturday before determining whether to activate him for the Week 7 contest, but even if he suits up Sunday, he could be eased back in with a more limited snap count. Before going on the list, Jones recorded five sacks through the Cardinals' first five games, with all of them coming in the Week 1 win over the Titans.
