  • Vikings' Wayne Gallman: Claimed by Vikings

The Vikings have claimed Gallman off waivers from the Falcons.

The move follows the placement of fellow running back Alexander Mattison on the reserve/COVID-19 list. Gallman thus gives the Vikings added backfield depth behind top back Dalvin Cook. Also currently on the team's active roster is RB Kene Nwangwu, while A.J. Rose is on Minnesota's practice squad.

  • Wayne Gallman: Let go by Falcons

Gallman was waived by Atlanta on Saturday.

Gallman was a healthy scratch in Atlanta's Week 13 game against the Buccaneers and played 45 offensive snaps over six games for the Falcons. The team signed Qadree Ollison from the practice squad to replace Gallman at third-string running.

  • Falcons' Wayne Gallman: Healthy scratch Week 13

Gallman (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers.

Gallman played five offensive snaps and had four carries for 19 yards last week against the Jaguars, but he'll be a healthy scratch for Sunday's contest. Qadree Ollison was elevated from the practice squad and is active in Gallman's place.

  • Falcons' Wayne Gallman: Four touches in Week 12

Gallman rushed four times for 19 yards during Sunday's 21-14 win over the Jaguars.

Gallman has been a non-factor in back-to-back weeks after his season-high performance -- 17 touches for 76 total yards -- in Week 10. Despite being out-touched by Mike Davis 8-4, Gallman was still able to match his production with 19 total yards. However, Davis' involvement in the passing game likely still solidifies him as the No. 2 fantasy commodity in the Falcons' backfield, but neither Gallman or Davis appear to be viable options when Cordarrelle Patterson is healthy.

  • Falcons' Wayne Gallman: Takes back seat in loss

Gallman rushed one time for negative three yards during Thursday's 25-0 loss to the Patriots.

After a season-high performance in Week 10, coach Arthur Smith made it clear that Gallman was still third on the depth chart at running back behind Cordarrelle Patterson (ankle) and Mike Davis. However, Patterson was ruled out for the matchup with New England due to a sprained ankle, which elevated Gallman to the No. 2 spot. Nonetheless, he was still a nonfactor in the Falcons' Week 11 loss, and, surprisingly, Qadree Ollison led Atlanta's backfield with nine carries for 34 yards. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor the backfield situation, but if Patterson is healthy moving forward, it's likely he will demand the majority of touches.

  • Falcons' Wayne Gallman: Remains third on depth chart

Falcons head coach Arthur Smith said that Gallman remains third on the depth chart at running back behind Cordarrelle Patterson (ankle) and Mike Davis, Josh Kendall of The Athletic reports.

Smith went on to say that Gallman's season-high 52 percent snap share and season-high 15 carries in last week's 43-3 loss to the Cowboys was mostly a byproduct of a blowout, in addition to the fact that the Falcons faced a quick turnaround for Week 11 with a Thursday night game versus New England. With 23 snaps, Gallman outpaced both Patterson (15) and Davis (20), but Gallman won't be a lock to lead the way for the Atlanta backfield even if Patterson -- who is listed as questionable for Thursday's game -- ends up sitting. Prior to last week, both Patterson and Davis had consistently worked ahead of Gallman, and if Smith is to be believed, the pecking order among the backs won't change Week 11. That being said, a Patterson absence Thursday would still open up more opportunities for Gallman than usual, even if Davis is the likelier candidate of the two to pick up the start.
