  • Jets' Michael Carter: Placed on IR

The Jets placed Carter (ankle) on injured reserve Saturday, ruling him out for Weeks 12-14, Rich Cimini of reports.

Coach Robert Saleh already hinted at a multi-game absence, and Adam Schefter of ESPN reported the rookie likely would be out 2-3 weeks with a low-grade high ankle sprain. It's now confirmed as a minimum of three missed games, with Carter next eligible to play Week 15 against Miami. The Jets are left with Ty Johnson, Tevin Coleman and La'Mical Perine in their backfield, with at least the first two expected to get work in the Week 12 game against Houston on Sunday.

  • Jets' Michael Carter: Two-week absence confirmed

Head coach Robert Saleh confirmed that Carter will miss "a couple weeks" after he suffered a low-grade ankle sprain in Sunday's 24-17 loss to the Dolphins, Ethan B. Greenberg of the Jets' official site reports.

Saleh made the announcement minutes after Adam Schefter of ESPN reported the injury would sideline Carter for 2-to-3 weeks. While the rookie is out of action for the Jets' Week 12 game in Houston and likely an additional contest to follow, expect the team to rely on the tandem of Ty Johnson and Tevin Coleman as its main options out of the backfield.

  • Jets' Michael Carter: Likely to miss multiple games

Carter was diagnosed Monday with a low-grade high-ankle sprain that will likely keep him sidelined for 2-to-3 weeks, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Schefter's report indicates that Carter is dealing with either a Grade 1 or Grade 2 sprain after the running back was forced out of Sunday's 24-17 loss to the Dolphins with the injury. After the rookie running back exited the contest early in the third quarter, Tevin Coleman out-touched Ty Johnson by a 4-2 margin. Expect Coleman and Johnson to work in a loose timeshare while Carter is likely out for at least the next two games, with La'Mical Perine -- who was inactive Week 11 -- ranking third in the backfield pecking order.

  • Jets' Michael Carter: Exits game with ankle injury

Carter was forced out of Sunday's game against the Dolphins with an ankle injury.

Prior to his exit from the contest, Carter had logged nine carries for 63 yards and caught his only target for two yards. In his absence, Tevin Coleman and Ty Johnson are next up for the Jets' carries.

  • Jets' Michael Carter: Finds paydirt in garbage time

Carter rushed 16 times for 39 yards and a touchdown while catching four of six targets for 43 yards in Sunday's 45-17 loss to the Bills.

Carter's one-yard touchdown came with the Jets trailing 38-3 in the fourth quarter, but they all count the same for fantasy, and the rookie running back has now scored in four of his last six games. He remains a steady contributor in the passing game, as well, having been targeted 31 times over the past four games while totaling at least 37 receiving yards in each of those. It's encouraging that Carter was able to contribute despite Mike White's horrendous 0:4 TD:INT, and Carter should maintain a prominent role in Week 11 against Miami regardless of whether White, Joe Flacco or Zach Wilson (knee) is named the Jets' starting quarterback.
