What Has Gone Wrong For Chiefs In 2025

Fantasy News

  • Texans' Ameer Speed: Signed to active roster

Speed was signed to the Texans' active roster Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Speed, who was on the team's practice squad, will be on the 53-man roster heading into the Week 14 road game against the Chiefs. He'll provide depth in the secondary, which took hit when starting safety Jaylen Reed (forearm) was removed from Sunday's win over the Colts. The Texans haven't revealed how they plan to replace Reed, but there are several in-house options. Speed, a sixth-round draft pick of New England in 2023, has played mostly on special teams during his time in the NFL and has 10 tackles over three seasons.

  • Ameer Speed: Works out with Bucs

Tampa Bay worked out Speed (undisclosed) on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. The Buccaneers are evidently exploring adding some organizational depth at cornerback, possibly because veteran Jamel Dean is dealing with a hip flexor strain. Speed, who now appears to be fully healthy again, last saw regular-season action in 2024, when he suited up for two games with the Bears.

  • Ameer Speed: Lands on PS injured list

The Browns placed Speed (undisclosed) on the practice squad injured list Tuesday, per the NFL's transaction log. It's unclear when Speed suffered the injury as he has not appeared in a single regular-season game in 2025. Nevertheless, he'll be required to miss the Browns' next four games at a minimum, which makes Week 10 against the Jets on Sunday, Nov. 9 the earliest he would be eligible to play.

  • Ameer Speed: Works out for Atlanta

Speed (undisclosed) worked out for the Falcons on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Speed was waived by the Bears with an injury designation last month and was eventually let go from injured reserve. He's evidently healthy enough to work out for teams and is looking for his next opportunity after appearing in two regular-season games for Chicago last season.

  • Bears' Ameer Speed: Reverts to IR

Speed (undisclosed) reverted to the Bears' injured reserve list Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Speed will move to Chicago's IR after going unclaimed off waivers, which means he'll be forced to miss the entire 2025 season unless he reaches an injury settlement with the Bears. Speed appeared in two regular-season games for the Bears in 2024 and logged 17 snaps (three on defense, 14 on special teams) over two games without otherwise showing up on the box score.

  • Ameer Speed: Released, joins practice squad

Speed was waived by the Colts on Tuesday before signing with their practice squad Wednesday, Joel A. Erickson of The Indianapolis Star reports. Speed will stick around Indianapolis after compiling nine total tackles (seven solo) with the team during the preseason. The cornerback will provide the Colts with an additional depth option in case of injury on the active roster.
