The Eagles did not tender VanSumeren (knee) as a restricted free agent Wednesday, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
VanSumeren will therefore become an unrestricted free agent. The fullback tore his patella tendon on the opening kickoff of the Eagles' Week 1 game against the Cowboys last season.

The Eagles re-signed VanSumeren (knee) to a one-year deal Wednesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
VanSumeren was a key special-teamer for Philadelphia in 2024 before sustaining a season-ending knee injury following a Week 12 win over the Rams. He made 11 appearances and recorded three total tackles (all solo) while playing 209 special-teams snaps. After re-signing with the Eagles, VanSumeren -- who will presumably be past his knee issue when the team takes the field again -- is expected to play a similar role in 2025.

VanSumeren likely injured his knee during practice this week after popping up on Friday's injury report as a limited practice participant. VanSumeren (concussion) has been cleared to play in Sunday's Week 10 battle against Dallas, Martin Frank of The Delaware News Journal reports.
VanSumeren suffered a concussion in the first half of last Sunday's tilt against the Jaguars and didn't return to the game. However, he's been able to clear the league's five-step concussion protocol and will be able to suit up Sunday. VanSumeren has played exclusively on special teams this season and will likely continue in that role against the Cowboys.
