  • Cade York: Inked to practice squad

The Giants signed York to its practice squad Friday.

York rejoins the Giants organization just two days after he was cut loose from the 53-man roster. The Giants signed him off the Titans' practice squad earlier this month, but he was never active for a game during his three weeks on the roster. The Giants appear to have settled on veteran Randy Bullock as their kicker moving forward with Graham Gano (knee) on injured reserve.

  • Cade York: Parts ways with Giants

The Giants waived York on Friday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.

New York signed the 22-year-old kicker in early November after deciding to place Graham Gano (knee) on IR. However, the team brought in veteran Randy Bullock at the same time, and Bullock was ultimately given the first chance to kick on game days. He didn't do anything to lose the job, thus York has been let go after being a healthy scratch three straight Sundays. After being selected in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, York went 24-for-32 on field goals -- including 4-for-7 from 50-plus yards -- as a rookie with Cleveland last year.

  • Giants' Cade York: Healthy scratch again

York (coach's decision) is inactive ahead of Sunday's game against the Commanders, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.

The 22-year-old had a chance to win the kicking job in New York after Graham Gano (knee) was placed on injured reserve, but it seems as if he's lost the competition, with Randy Bullock assuming the team's kicking duties. York has yet to appear in an NFL game since signing with the Giants' in early November.

  • Giants' Cade York: Inactive in Week 9

York (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game at Las Vegas, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.

The Giants signed York off the Titans' practice squad Friday, giving them a choice between him and Randy Bullock to kick for the team after Graham Gano (knee) was placed on injured reserve. Unfortunately for York, Bullock is getting the call Sunday, but the former will have at least two more chances to sub in for Gano considering rules regarding getting signed off another team's practice squad mean he must remain on the active roster for a minimum of three games.

  • Giants' Cade York: Joined by Bullock on active roster

The Giants elevated Randy Bullock from the practice squad Saturday, meaning he and York are the candidates to kick for the team Sunday at Las Vegas, Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports reports.

The Giants have yet to tip their hand about who will get the first chance to take over for regular placekicker Graham Gano, who was placed on injured reserve Friday due to a lingering left knee injury. York was the Browns' kicker last season, netting 24 of 32 field-goal attempts and 35 of 37 point-after tries in 17 games.

  • Giants' Cade York: Joins Giants

The Giants are signing York off the Titans' practice squad.

With Graham Gano (knee) slated to go on IR, York and Randy Bullock are candidates to serve as the Giants' kicker Sunday against the Raiders. Per Dan Duggan of The Athletic, a decision on the team's Week 9 kicker could hinge on a competition between York and Bullock during Friday's practice.

  • Cade York: Joins Tennessee's practice squad

York is signing with the Titans' practice squad Thursday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

York was waived by the Browns on Tuesday after the team acquired Dustin Hopkins from the Chargers. The Titans also made a trade for a kicker by acquiring Nick Folk from the Patriots, but York will also be part of the organization on the practice squad.

  • Cade York: To be cut following trade

The Browns are slated to waive York after having traded for Dustin Hopkins from the Chargers, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

York lost Cleveland's kicking competition by virtue of going 4-for-8 on field-goal tries in four preseason appearances, including back-to-back games in which he failed to convert what would have been a game winner. Now, the 2022 fourth-round pick's roster spot has been made expendable by the Browns' trade of a 2025 seventh-round pick to the Chargers in exchange for veteran placekicker Dustin Hopkins. If he clears waivers, York will look to land on a practice squad elsewhere in the league. He could even be a candidate to reunite with Cleveland, considering the draft capital invested in him by the team.

  • Browns' Cade York: Not named starter

Head coach Kevin Stefanski told reporters Sunday that he has not committed to York being the Browns' starting kicker for Week 1, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.

Stefanski reiterated that the discussions have been internal and that York is "really talented." The 2022 fourth-round pick out of LSU has struggled in the preseason, going just 4-for-8 on field goal tries in four games, but he has converted on all eight extra-point attempts. The Browns opted to not bring in another kicker during training camp, but with York's preseason performance, they could change course and bring in some competition ahead of their season opener against the Bengals on Sunday, Sept. 10.

  • Browns' Cade York: Won't face competition in camp

Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said Friday that there are no plans to bring in another kicker to compete with York during the preseason, Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com reports.

York has struggled in exhibition action, hitting just half of his six field-goal attempts. He had two chances at a go-ahead kick late Thursday, missing wide right on a 47-yarder and wide left from five yards closer after the Eagles were flagged for a penalty. Nonetheless, Stefanski indicated confidence in the kicker, saying, "Cade's our kicker. We support him. We have a ton of confidence in him. That's really as simple as that." York was up-and-down as a rookie last season, making just 24 of 32 field-goal attempts but showing a strong leg with a 4-for-7 mark from 50-plus yards.

  • Browns' Cade York: Misses twice Thursday

York was successful on three of four field-goal attempts in Thursday's 18-18 preseason game against the Eagles.

York, who had missed attempts in each of the first two preseason games, made all three tries during the first half Thursday. But all anyone will remember are the misses near the end of the game that could have sealed a win for the Browns. He went wide right on a 47-yarder -- the third time he went wide right during preseason action -- but a Philadelphia penalty gave him another chance, five yards closer. That one he hooked to the left. Cleveland head coach Kevin Stefanski stood by the young kicker, telling Zac Jackson of The Athletic that he's not interested in adding another to kicker to compete with York. Nevertheless, the misses are alarming.
