    MacKinnon rejoined teammates for the second session of Saturday's practice, Evan Rawal of Colorado Hockey Now reports.

    MacKinnon was away Friday in Halifax, where his junior team, the Mooseheads, retired his jersey. His return in time for practice suggests he may be available for Sunday's preseason opener against the Wild in Colorado.

The top-end players have often done well for the Avalanche, but the Kraken have a 3-2 series lead thanks to stronger depth scoring.     MacKinnon put the Avalanche ahead 2-1 at 19:15 of the first period, and his tally in the third stood as the game-winner. The 27-year-old has two goals and an assist through three playoff contests, but Saturday was an example of what happens when MacKinnon finds a level most players can't attain.     MacKinnon earned his sixth career hat trick. This was also the fourth time he's recorded at least three points in the span of seven games, so it's fair to say he's red hot going into the playoffs. His heroics in Colorado's regular-season finale pushed him up to 42 goals this campaign, surpassing the career high of 41 he set in 2018-19. MacKinnon's also finished the season with 69 assists, 366 shots, 53 hits and 40 blocks in 71 outings.

    MacKinnon has recorded six multi-point games over his last nine outings, providing an incredible nine goals and 17 points in that span. MacKinnon has already surpassed his previous career high of 99 points, and he's just two goals away from his personal best in that category.
