Bears' Luther Burden: Limited in return to practice
Burden (ankle) practiced in a limited capacity Wednesday.
This marks Burden's first official on-field work since he suffered an ankle injury Week 15 against the Browns. He may need to upgrade to full participation Thursday or Friday in order to avoid a designation ahead of Sunday's game at San Francisco, but he appears to be a better bet to return to action Week 17 than fellow WR Rome Odunze (foot), who remained sidelined at practice Wednesday.

Bears' Luther Burden: Yet to resume practicing
Burden (ankle) wasn't spotted on the field Tuesday during the Bears' unofficial practice, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Burden was listed as a non-participant on all three of the Bears' practice reports in Week 16 before sitting out Saturday's 22-16 overtime win over the Packers. Rome Odunze (foot) was also sidelined for a third straight game, and with neither wideout logging any activity in an unofficial session Tuesday, both could be trending in the wrong direction for Sunday's game at San Francisco. If Burden and Odunze are both held out again in Week 17, DJ Moore would have a clearer path to added volume in the passing game after he contributed a 5-97-1 receiving line on seven targets in the win over Green Bay.

Bears' Luther Burden: No practice Wednesday
Burden (ankle) was a non-participant at practice Wednesday.
Burden filled in for an absent Rome Odunze (foot) this past Sunday versus the Browns, hauling in six of seven targets for 84 yards before exiting in the third quarter with an ankle injury. On Monday, coach Ben Johnson called Burden "day-to-day," per Chris Kwiecinski of Fox 32 Chicago, but both he and Odunze have yet to mix into any drills this week. Thursday's practice report will reveal Burden's odds to suit up Saturday against the Packers.

Bears' Luther Burden: Out for Week 16
Burden (ankle) has been ruled out for Saturday's game versus the Packers.
Since injuring his ankle during this past Sunday's win against the Browns, Burden wasn't able to practice in any capacity and now will miss his second contest of the campaign. He'll be joining Rome Odunze (foot) on the sidelined Saturday, while Olamide Zaccheaus and Devin Duvernay will take on expanded roles alongside DJ Moore. Burden's next chance to play is Sunday, Dec. 28 in San Francisco.

Bears' Luther Burden: Absent from Tuesday's session
Burden (ankle) was a non-participant in Tuesday's walk-through practice.
Burden was one of two receivers the Bears estimated as non-participants Tuesday, with Rome Odunze (foot) also missing. While Odunze has been sidelined for the Bears' past two games, Burden has seen his playing time increase and has capitalized on his opportunities, stringing together a 10-151-0 receiving line on 13 targets. However, after tweaking his ankle in the third quarter of Sunday's 31-3 win over the Browns, the rookie wideout is being viewed as day-to-day ahead of a critical matchup with the Packers in Week 16. Burden will still have two more chances to potentially fit in some practice activity this week before the Bears decide on his availability for Saturday's game.

Bears' Luther Burden: Called day-to-day
Bears coach Ben Johnson said Monday that Burden (ankle) is day-to-day, Chris Kwiecinski of Fox 32 Chicago reports.
Burden was forced out of Chicago's win over the Browns on Sunday early due to an ankle injury, and it sounds like his availability for Week 16 won't be determined until after the Bears have had opportunities to evaluate the rookie wideout at practice. If Burden is unable to play Saturday versus the Packers, Olamide Zaccheaus and Devin Duvernay would stand to handle expanded roles in the receiving game, especially with Rome Odunze (foot) looking uncertain.

Bears' Luther Burden: Injures ankle Sunday
Burden sustained an ankle injury during Sunday's game versus the Browns.
With fellow WR Rome Odunze (foot) ruled out shortly before kickoff, Burden and the rest of the Bears' receiving corps experienced a potential uptick in usage, and Burden responded with six catches (on seven targets) for 84 yards before exiting in the third quarter. This new health concern combined with the fact Jahdae Walker was a healthy scratch means DJ Moore, Olamide Zaccheaus and Devin Duvernay are the only healthy and available options at the position.

Bears' Luther Burden: Earns six targets
Burden recorded four receptions on six targets for 67 yards in Sunday's 28-21 loss to the Packers. He added one rush for three yards.
Burden led the Bears in targets and yards with Rome Odunze (foot) sidelined, while DJ Moore remained uninvolved. Burden was primarily targeted in short areas of the field, though he did get behind the Packers' defense for a 27-yard gain late in the fourth quarter as the Bears attempted to rally to tie the game. Burden's involvement in Chicago's offense has steadily crept up in recent weeks, as he now has at least five targets in four straight contests. He set his highest yardage total in that span with his performance Sunday, though Burden could continue to emerge in the final handful of remaining weeks of the regular season.
