  • Seiya Suzuki RF | CHC

Cubs' Seiya Suzuki: Powers offense Friday

Suzuki went 3-for-5 with a triple, an RBI and three runs scored in Friday's 12-2 win over the Pirates.

Suzuki and Alex Bregman combined for six of Chicago's 16 hits to lead the team to a comfortable victory. The slugging outfielder came into the contest mired in a bit of a slump. as he started September going just 3-for-30 across his first nine games. Suzuki quickly doubled that hit total Friday, and he should remain an offensive engine for the Cubs as they head toward the postseason.

  • Josue De Paula DH | LAD

Dodgers' Josue De Paula: Officially promoted

The Dodgers selected De Paula's contract from Double-A Tulsa on Friday, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

After slashing .303/.401/.547 with 27 homers, 104 RBI, 106 runs and 31 steals across 588 plate appearances at Tulsa, De Paula will skip Triple-A and move directly to the majors. With Shohei Ohtani (knee/biceps) moving to the injured list, De Paula is expected to take over as the Dodgers' primary designated hitter, though he could also make a few starts in the outfield if needed. Eric Lauer (elbow) was moved to the 60-day injured list to free up a spot on the 40-man roster.

  • Byron Buxton CF | MIN

Twins' Byron Buxton: Set for season-ending hip surgery

Buxton will undergo season-ending arthroscopic surgery on his right hip Sept. 18, Aaron Gleeman of AaronGleeman.com reports.

Buxton has been on the 10-day injured list since late August with a hip injury that's bothered him off-and-on throughout the 2026 campaign. It's positive news that the surgery is arthroscopic, as that should give Buxton plenty of time to recover before spring training. Buxton will finish this season with a .254/.319/.511 batting line with 25 home runs and seven stolen bases over 93 games. With Buxton officially done for the season, Walker Jenkins will continue to man center field for Minnesota.

  • Trevor Larnach LF | MIN

    Twins' Trevor Larnach: Idle Friday

Larnach is absent from Friday's starting lineup against the Guardians.

The left-handed-hitting Larnach will sit as the Guardians send out southpaw Parker Messick to the mound Friday. Austin Martin will move over to left field and bat eighth for Minnesota.

  • Blue Jays' Anthony Santander: Needs more rehab games

Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Friday that Santander (shoulder) will remain on his rehab assignment at Triple-A Buffalo through the middle of next week, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

That means he'll stay with Buffalo through the end of the Blue Jays' homestand. Santander could conceivably be activated after that for the start of Toronto's road trip, though nothing is set in stone. He's coming back from February left shoulder surgery.

  • Corbin Carroll RF | ARI

Diamondbacks' Corbin Carroll: Back in Friday's lineup

Carroll (back) is in Arizona's lineup for Friday's matchup against the Rangers.

Carroll will return to the lineup Friday after missing the past two games with low back discomfort. The 26-year-old will man right field and bat fifth for the Diamondbacks.

  • Pirates' Esmerlyn Valdez: Leaves game with hamstring injury

Valdez was removed from Friday's contest against the Cubs with left hamstring discomfort, Aiden Stepansky of MLB.com reports.

Valdez grounded out to shortstop in the top of the sixth inning and almost immediately came up limping after exiting the batter's box. The Pirates could have more information on his status after the game, but it's an injury that could end the rookie's season. Valdez was 0-for-3 with a pair of strikeouts in the game before exiting.

  • Tristan Peters CF | CHW

White Sox's Tristan Peters: Sitting against lefty

Peters is absent from the lineup for Friday's game against the Cardinals.

As St. Louis sends out southpaw Matthew Liberatore, the left-handed-hitting Peters will ride the pine for Friday's series opener. Brenton Doyle will take over in center field and bat sixth for the White Sox.

  • Wenceel Perez RF | DET

Tigers' Wenceel Perez: Not expected back this season

Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said Friday that Perez (orbital) is "most likely" done for the season, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

Perez suffered an orbital fracture and blurred vision back in June when he was struck in the face by an exercise band. He had to be pulled off a rehab assignment in August because his vision still wasn't back to normal, and it seems Perez will run out of time to return before the curtains close on the regular season.

  • Eli White CF | BOS

Red Sox's Eli White: Heading to injured list

Boston placed White on the 10-day injured list with a right foot ligament injury Friday, retroactive to Sept. 9.

White had produced at least one base hit in seven of his last eight games before being sidelined Friday. The 32-year-old had been taking over in center field for Ceddanne Rafaela (quadriceps), becoming an everyday player. In 60 plate appearances since joining Boston, White is slashing .276/.300/.379 with one homer and 12 RBI. The Red Sox recalled Anthony Seigler from Triple-A Worcester to replace White on the active roster.
