Jake Bennett SP | BOS
Red Sox's Jake Bennett: Clean outing in bulk relief
Bennett didn't factor into the decision in the first game of Friday's doubleheader against the Cubs, allowing three hits and a walk over 3.2 scoreless innings of relief. He struck out one.
The southpaw took the mound to begin the third inning after opener Alec Gamboa had coughed up three runs, and Bennett steadied the ship for the Red Sox as they mounted a comeback, although he was no longer the pitcher of record when his team finally took the lead. Bennett's role on Boston's postseason staff isn't yet clear, but a 4.91 ERA since the beginning of August suggests he could be headed for the bullpen.

Joe Ryan SP | MIN
Twins' Joe Ryan: Fans eight, earns win Friday
Ryan (7-10) earned the win after allowing two runs on four hits and one walk while striking out eight over six innings in Friday's 10-2 victory over the Rangers.
Ryan endured a difficult first inning, allowing an RBI single to Corey Seager and a run-scoring groundout to Wyatt Langford as Texas grabbed a 2-0 advantage. However, Minnesota responded with six runs in the second, and Ryan took control the rest of the way, holding the Rangers scoreless over his final five frames to end a streak of seven starts without a win between July 11 and Sept. 19. Ryan gave up two or fewer runs in three of his final four starts of the season, but he posted a ballooned 6.82 ERA since the All-Star break. In 27 starts this season, Ryan posted a 3.79 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP over 144.2 innings.

Jacob deGrom SP | TEX
Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Tagged for eight runs
DeGrom (11-11) took the loss Friday against the Twins after allowing eight runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out five over four innings.
DeGrom matched a season high in runs allowed at the worst possible time, as the Rangers are in a tight race to win the AL West. The subpar outing overshadowed the fact that the star hurler also recorded his 200th strikeout of the season Friday, reaching the milestone for the first time since 2019. DeGrom made 31 starts this season and pitched at least 160 innings in back-to-back years for the first time since 2018 and 2019. He finishes the regular season with a 4.20 ERA and 1.14 WHIP across 162.2 frames. If the Rangers make the playoffs, expect DeGrom to take the ball in the AL Wild Card round.

Bryce Miller SP | SEA
Mariners' Bryce Miller: Stuck with loss Friday
Miller (4-10) allowed five runs on six hits and two walks while striking out seven over six innings to take the loss Friday versus the Angels.
Miller had a decent start going through five innings before Christian Moore tagged him for a three-run home run in the sixth. Miller's campaign was a tale of two halves -- he had a 1.71 ERA over his first nine outings, but he went winless (0-8) over his last 13 games, posting a 6.14 ERA across 66 innings in that span. It shakes out as a 4.17 ERA overall, along with a 1.16 WHIP and 119:38 K:BB across 118.2 innings through 22 games (21 starts). The silver linings were Miller improving his strikeout, walk and home run rates from last year while staying healthy after opening the year with an oblique strain.

Noah Cameron SP | KC
Royals' Noah Cameron: Roughed up in no-decision
Cameron did not factor into the decision during Friday's 12-9 loss to the Guardians. He allowed seven runs (six earned) on seven hits and four walks while striking out three over five innings.
Cameron allowed his most runs since July 19. Despite the seven spot, the left-hander completed his 15th consecutive outing of at least five innings dating back to July 6. The lefty served up long balls to David Fry and Austin Hedges while allowing 11 total base runners. With this being his last appearance of the season, the 27-year-old wraps up 2026 with a 9-8 record, 4.11 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 158:58 K:BB in 177.1 innings.

Reid Detmers SP | LAA
Angels' Reid Detmers: Ends strong campaign with win
Detmers (7-8) allowed two hits and two walks while striking out seven over six scoreless innings to earn the win over the Mariners on Friday.
Detmers struggled in his previous start, but he ends the year in a positive note. The southpaw allowed just eight runs over 30 innings across five starts in September, winning three of them while adding a 37:4 K:BB. Overall, he posted a 3.36 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 211:48 K:BB over 185 innings across 32 starts in 2026, just one year after serving as a full-time reliever. Detmers could attract significant offseason trade interest after his career year.
-
Gavin Williams SP | CLE
Guardians' Gavin Williams: Allows four runs in no-decision
Williams did not factor into decision in the Guardians' 12-9 win over the Royals on Friday. He allowed four runs on five hits and four walks. He struck out four.
Williams recorded his shortest start Friday since he lasted just 1.1 innings against the Angels on Aug. 25. The right-hander had trouble against Carter Jensen, giving up three RBI to the catcher, including a two-run homer in the second. Assuming this is his final start this season, Williams has posted a 14-8 record, 3.76 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 248:61 K:BB in 184.1 innings.
-
Sean Burke SP | CHW
White Sox's Sean Burke: Efficient start in win
Burke (11-7) earned the win after allowing one run on four hits and one walk over 5.1 innings against the Rockies on Friday. He struck out seven.
Burke recorded his third consecutive win and his fourth victory in his last five starts Friday against Colorado. The right-hander gave up only one mistake, allowing a solo shot by TJ Rumfield in the second inning. Assuming this is his last appearance of the season, the 26-year-old posted a 3.34 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 185:62 K:BB in 172.1 innings.

Nathan Eovaldi SP | TEX
Rangers' Nathan Eovaldi: Starting Saturday
Eovaldi will start Saturday's game against the Twins.
Eovaldi will be making his first start since Aug. 7 during the Rangers' penultimate regular-season game as they continue to compete for a division title. The 36-year-old has made four appearances as a reliever since returning from an elbow injury Sept. 12, during which he's coughed up five earned runs in 8.2 innings while striking out four batters and walking one. He never threw more than 46 pitches in any of those outings, so although he'll be capable of handling multiple innings Saturday, he may struggle to pitch deep enough into the game to record a win.

Brandon Young SP | BAL
Orioles' Brandon Young: Takes loss in season finale
Young (9-6) took the loss against the Yankees in Game 2 of Friday's doubleheader, allowing one run on two hits and three walks with six strikeouts over five innings.
Young opened with four scoreless frames before allowing a run on a double in the fifth, throwing 46 of 82 pitches for strikes with 14 whiffs. It was a tough-luck loss for the 28-year-old, who last earned a win Aug. 11 despite yielding two earned runs or fewer in five of eight starts since. He'll finish a solid campaign with a 3.56 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 133:61 K:BB across 156.2 innings.
