  • Mets' Francisco Lindor: Smacks leadoff homer off Alcantara

Lindor went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored during Tuesday's 7-5 win over the Marlins.

Lindor set the tone early for the Mets' batters by taking the first pitch he saw from Sandy Alcantara deep to center field for a leadoff homer in the first inning. Lindor has a .222 batting average (14-for-63) over his last 15 games, but he's also smashed five home runs in that span while logging seven RBI and 12 runs scored.

  • Juan Soto LF | NYM

Mets' Juan Soto: Belts three-run homer Tuesday

Soto went 2-for-4 with a double, a three-run home run and an additional run scored during Tuesday's 7-5 win over Miami.

The Mets jumped all over Sandy Alcantara early, with Soto supplying a three-run long ball in the second inning to give his team a 5-0 lead. Soto has logged two hits in both of his last two games and has three home runs since returning from the injured list Aug. 29. For the season, he is slashing .279/.400/.536 with eight steals (in 11 attempts), 24 home runs and 59 RBI across 401 plate appearances.

  • Sean Manaea SP | NYM

Mets' Sean Manaea: Collects win in Miami

Manaea (5-7) earned the win against the Marlins on Tuesday, allowing four runs on five hits while striking out four across five innings. He did not issue a walk.

Manaea was in complete control for most of Tuesday's start, retiring the first 15 batters he faced while being handed a 6-0 lead by his Mets teammates. However, the left-hander's night took a turn for the worse in the sixth, when he allowed a hit to each of the first five batters he faced while being tagged for four runs. Luckily for Manaea, he received enough run support to come away with his fifth win of the season and third since the All-Star break. He's allowed at least four runs in each of his last five outings, and he'll take a 4.79 ERA and 1.34 WHIP over 133.1 innings into his next start, tentatively slated for next week at home against the Orioles.

  • Nationals' Orlando Ribalta: MRI comes back clean

MRI results on Ribalta's right forearm came back negative Tuesday, Kyle Williams of TheBanner.com reports.

Ribalta landed on the injured list Monday with forearm inflammation, but the results of his tests confirmed that he isn't dealing with a structural issue. The Nationals will now shift their focus to making sure the 28-year-old gets enough time to rest and recover, and with the team well outside of the hunt for a postseason berth, there's no guarantee he pitches again this season.

  • Giants' Victor Bericoto: Beginning assignment Wednesday

Bericoto (knee) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Bericoto has gradually built up his workload over the past week as he recovers from a bone bruise in his right knee, and he's now been cleared to test his knee in a true game setting. He'll likely need a handful of minor-league at-bats after spending a little more than two weeks on the injured list, but he could still return sometime in mid-September.

  • Jose Quintana SP | COL

Rockies' Jose Quintana: Making rehab appearance Wednesday

Quintana (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment at Double-A Hartford on Wednesday, Kevin Henry of The Denver Gazette reports.

Out since late May with a sprained left elbow, Quintana began his throwing program in early July and has finally reached the final stage in his rehab. The Rockies -- already eliminated from postseason contention -- likely won't be in much of a hurry to bring the veteran southpaw back, but he could still return in time to make another start or two before the end of the season.

  • Kyle Freeland SP | COL

Rockies' Kyle Freeland: Beginning assignment Wednesday

Freeland (neck) is expected to pitch in a rehab game at Double-A Hartford on Wednesday, Kevin Henry of The Denver Gazette reports.

Freeland landed on the injured list Aug. 24 due to cervical radiculopathy, and after spending the past week throwing off a mound, the 33-year-old is now ready to return to a competitive setting. It's unclear whether he'll make additional rehab appearances beyond Wednesday, but because he hasn't been on the shelf very long, he shouldn't need much time to ramp back up.

  • Joshua Baez LF | STL

Cardinals' Joshua Baez: Riding pine Tuesday

Baez isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Giants.

Baez is currently enjoying a seven-game hitting streak, but the Cardinals will allow him to rest Tuesday while Bryan Torres starts in left field and Thomas Saggese covers second base.

  • Masyn Winn SS | STL

Cardinals' Masyn Winn: Back from IL

The Cardinals activated Winn (thumb) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday.

After missing slightly over two weeks with a left thumb fracture, Winn will return to the lineup Tuesday. The 24-year-old will bat eighth and man shortstop for the second game of a three-game set against San Francisco. St. Louis demoted Cesar Prieto to clear a roster spot for Winn.

  • Ben Rortvedt C | LAD

Dodgers' Ben Rortvedt: Stays with Dodgers in Triple-A

Rortvedt cleared waivers and accepted his outright assignment to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday, Alex Freedman of okccomets.com reports

The Dodgers designated Rortvedt for assignment Sept. 1 to make room for Will Smith's return from a neck injury. Rortvedt is expected to start In Oklahoma City's game Wednesday.
