Wise recorded three solo tackles, one sack, one forced fumble and one pass defense during Sunday's 38-15 win over the Browns. Wise sacked Jacoby Brissett and forced a fumble on the first play of the fourth quarter, but the ball went out of bounds before anyone could recover it. The veteran defensive end has played at least 75 percent of the Patriots' defensive snaps in every game this season and is in the midst of his best professional campaign. Across six appearances, Wise has already tied his career high with five sacks while adding 25 tackles, two forced fumbles and one pass defense.... See More ... See Less

Patriots' Deatrich Wise: Three sacks in loss
Wise recorded six tackles (five solo) and three sacks during Sunday's 37-26 loss to the Ravens. Wise did a great job of corralling Lamar Jackson when he tried to scramble away from pressure and notched the Patriots' first three-sack game since 2015. Across the first three games of the season, the sixth-year defensive end has 13 tackles and four sacks, one shy of his career high.... See More ... See Less -
Patriots' Deatrich Wise: Contract restructured
The Patriots restructured Wise's contract Wednesday by converting $2.85 million of his base salary into a signing bonus, Field Yates of ESPN reports. The transaction creates $1.9 million in cap space for New England, a necessary move after the team's trade for DeVante Parker. Wise, who had 41 tackles and three sacks in 16 games last season, remains under contract through 2024.... See More ... See Less -
Patriots' Deatrich Wise: Lands on COVID list
Wise has been placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list, per the NFL's official transaction log. That's a hit to the Patriots' defensive line ahead of Sunday's game against the Bills. Wise has logged 36 tackles and three sacks in 14 games to date. Until he clears COVID protocols, Carl Davis figures to see added work.... See More ... See Less -
Patriots' Deatrich Wise: Recovers enough to play
Wise (illness) is active for Thursday's game against the Falcons. Wise was forced to miss practice early in the week but did manage a limited session Wednesday. He'll look to build on his Week 10 performance against the Browns, as he recorded 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble.... See More ... See Less -
Patriots' Deatrich Wise: Listed as questionable
Wise (illness) was listed as questionable for Thursday night's matchup against the Falcons. After missing practices both Monday and Tuesday, Wise was a limited participant in practice Wednesday. If the defensive end is able to suit up Thursday night, look for his hot performance to continue against a weak Atlanta offensive line that was recently exploited by the Cowboys.... See More ... Patriots' Deatrich Wise: Activated from PUP list
Wise (ankle) was activated from New England's PUP list Friday, Doug Kyed of NESN.com reports. Wise missed the Patriots' spring offseason program with an ankle injury he sustained towards the end of last season. The 25-year-old is expected to contribute heavily to the Patriots' defensive front unless third-round pick Chase Winovich can eat into his snaps.... See More ... See Less -
Patriots' Deatrich Wise: Wearing walking boot
Wise has been sidelined from the Patriots' offseason program while wearing a walking boot, Andrew Callahan of Mass Live reports. Wise battled an ankle injury for much of the end of last season, which forced him to miss the divisional round and the AFC Championship Game before recording five tackles in the Super Bowl win over the Rams. He's projected to be ready to go for the regular season, when he's expected to contribute in a big way unless third-round pick Chase Winovich (thumb) can eat into his snaps.... See More ... Patriots' Deatrich Wise: Inactive Sunday
Wise (ankle) is listed as inactive for Sunday's game against the Chargers. Wise won't be able to play through his sprained ankle, so he'll be sidelined Sunday while Derek Rivers fills in at defensive end across from Trey Flowers. Adrian Clayborn could see additional work on the defensive line as well.... See More ... See Less -
Patriots' Deatrich Wise: Status uncertain
Wise is still struggling with his sprained ankle and may be held out of Sunday's divisional-round game against the Chargers, Jeff Howe of The Athletic reports. Wise was expected to play, but an evaluation Sunday morning went worse than expected. If he's ultimately held out, look for Derek Rivers to pick up the start at right defensive end.... See More ... Patriots' Deatrich Wise: Officially listed as questionable
Wise (ankle) is questionable for Sunday's divisional-round playoff game against the Chargers, Jim McBride of The Boston Globe reports. Wise was a limited participant in Friday's practice and is reportedly expected to suit up versus the Chargers. If the second-year pro were to miss any time, Derek Rivers would benefit from an uptick in snaps.... See More ... See Less -
Patriots' Deatrich Wise: Records 1.5 sacks in win
Wise recorded three tackles (two solo) to go along with 1.5 sacks across 23 defensive snaps in Sunday's 27-20 win over the Texans. Wise is playing a rotational role along the defensive line. However, his performance Sunday could give the second-year pro some added reps heading in to Week 2, as he continues to look more comfortable in the Patriots' defensive schemes.... See More ... Patriots' Deatrich Wise: Ready for Super Bowl LII
Wise (concussion) does not appear on the injury report ahead of Super Bowl LII. Wise has evidently cleared concussion protocol after being a full participant in practice both Thursday and Friday. There's been no indication he'll be under any sort of snap restriction Sunday.... See More ... See Less -
Patriots' Deatrich Wise: Returns to practice
Wise (concussion) was a full participant at practice Thursday. Wise was working his way through the concussion protocol and appears to have cleared it. He's expected to be a full go in the Super Bowl against Philadelphia on Sunday.... See More ... See Less -
Patriots' Deatrich Wise: Picked by Pats
The Patriots selected Wise in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft, 131st overall. Wise (6-foot-5, 274 pounds) is a very athletic lineman who functionally might look similar to Trey Flowers, who Wise was formerly teammates with at Arkansas. There's not a lot of linear explosiveness in Wise's game, but his reach, quickness and versatility make him a candidate to earn snaps early on in his Patriots career.... See More ... See Less
