Top K.J. Osborn News

  • Vikings' K.J. Osborn: Two catches in loss

Osborn caught two of four targets for nine yards in Sunday's 30-20 loss to the Lions.

Osborn's underwhelming performance against the Lions proved to be another example of the receiver's inconsistency in the 2023 campaign. Not including his rookie season in which he didn't play a single offensive snap, the veteran wideout recorded career lows in receptions (48), yards (540) and touchdowns (three) in 2023. Osborn is set to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason, so it's possible he may find himself in a new locale when the 2024 if the Vikings feel they can find an upgrade for the No. 3 receiver spot.

  • Vikings' K.J. Osborn: No receptions in loss

Osborn did not have a target or reception in Sunday's loss to Green Bay. He played on 33 of the offense's 53 snaps.

Osborn worked as the third receiver with both Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison healthy, but even then he was surprisingly missing from the game plan. There was some thought he'd get more targets with T.J. Hockenson out with a season-ending knee injury, but it was Johnny Mundt (seven targets and four receptions) who filled the void for at least one week.

  • Vikings' K.J. Osborn: Strikes for first TD since Week 3

Osborn reeled in five of seven targets for 95 yards and one touchdown during Sunday's 30-24 loss to the Lions.

Osborn may have benefitted slightly from rookie wide receiver Jordan Addison departing late in the second quarter with an ankle injury. Having said that, Osborn had two 14-yard catches on the Vikings' first possession, and he then had gains of 47, six (for a TD) and 14 after halftime. The team's No. 1 wide receiver Justin Jefferson looked like himself with 6-141-1 on 10 targets, but if Addison is forced to miss any time, Osborn and Brandon Powell (3-53-0 on four targets Sunday) would stand to benefit against an exploitable Packers defense next Sunday, Dec. 31.
