  • Bills' Tyrel Dodson: Re-ups with Buffalo

Dodson has re-signed on a one-year contract, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports.

The 2022 campaign will be Dodson's third with the team. While the Texas A&M product is unlikely to see starter's time at linebacker, he's a versatile backup and an excellent special teams player. The latter will be especially needed with the Bills having quite a bit of turnover to their coaching staff this offseason, including the special teams coaches.

  • Bills' Tyrel Dodson: Activated by Bills

Dodson (undisclosed) was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list Thursday.

Dodson was unavailable for a week and a half due to the league's COVID-19 protocols, but he'll now be able to return to practice. Across his last five appearances, the linebacker has logged eight tackles (seven solo).

  • Bills' Tyrel Dodson: Lands on COVID-19 list

Dodson was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday.

Dodson will need to produce back-to-back negative tests at least 24 hours apart or complete a 10-day quarantine before he is allowed to return to team facilities. With Dodson and A.J. Klein both potentially out Sunday due to COVID-19 protocols, Tyler Matakevich may be in line for an increased workload against the Panthers.

  • Bills' Tyrel Dodson: Activated off IR

The Bills activated Dodson (hamstring) off injured reserve Saturday.

The Bills are much healthier at linebacker compared to earlier this season, when Dodson had to be used in a pinch as a starter because several regulars were out. If he suits up Sunday night against the Steelers, he'll be used in a depth and special teams role. Dodson has not seen the field since Week 6 against the Chiefs.

  • Bills' Tyrel Dodson: Trending in right direction

The Bills have designated Dodson (hamstring) to return to practice, Maddy Glab of the team's official site reports.

Dodson has missed the last five games while residing on IR with the hamstring injury, though he's now expected to return to practice this week. The Bills will have 21 days to activate the linebacker, and he could return to the lineup as early as Monday's game against the 49ers.

  • Bills' Tyrel Dodson: Moved to IR

Dodson (hamstring) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, the Bills' official site reports.

Dodson has been receiving plenty of action lately with injuries hitting starters Tremaine Edmunds and Matt Milano, but with Edmunds playing again and Milano about to, Dodson's playing time was about to go down even without the injury. He'll now be forced out of action for at least a few weeks.

  • Bills' Tyrel Dodson: Won't face Jets

Dodson (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's divisional contest against the Jets.

Dodson couldn't practice in any capacity this week, so it doesn't come as much of a surprise to see him officially ruled out. On a more positive note for the Bills, Matt Milano (pectoral) is listed as questionable and appears to have a good shot at suiting up.

  • Bills' Tyrel Dodson: No practice yet this week

Dodson, who suffered a hamstring injury during Monday's loss to the Chiefs, missed practice for the second straight day Thursday.

Dodson seems like a long shot to return Sunday against the Jets, though at least the Bills could get starter Matt Milano back after the latter practiced on a limited basis the past two days.

  • Bills' Tyrel Dodson: Picks up hamstring injury

Dodson is questionable to return to Monday's game against the Chiefs due to a hamstring injury.

The 22-year-old didn't have a tackle before exiting the contest with the injury. His opportunity on the field may be short-lived if injured starter Matt Milano is able to return soon.

  • Bills' Tyrel Dodson: Big contributor in road win

Dodson posted eight tackles and two passes defensed, and played all but one defensive snap in Buffalo's win over Miami in Week 2.

The reserve linebacker started in the middle in place of starter Tremaine Edmunds (shoulder) and certainly didn't disappoint. The coaches pointed out how well Dodson played, and he'll certainly be given the same role in Week 3 if Edmunds can't return from his injury. Even when the latter returns to action, Dodson has probably earned himself a few more looks in certain defensive packages.
