  • 49ers' Curtis Robinson: Expanded role after Bethune exit

Robinson totaled 12 tackles (five solo) during the 49ers' 41-22 win over the Cardinals on Sunday.

Robinson mostly served on special teams in the 10 regular-season games prior to Week 11, but he was thrust into a more prominent role on defense after Tatum Bethune exited in the first half due to a high-ankle sprain. Robinson took advantage of the opportunity, posting a career-high 12 tackles to finish tied with Cody Simon for the most tackles in Sunday's game. Per David Lombardi of SFStandard.com, Bethune is expected to miss multiple weeks while recovering from his ankle injury, so Robinson should start at middle linebacker for as long as the former is sidelined.

  • 49ers' Curtis Robinson: Activated off PUP list

The 49ers activated Robinson (undisclosed) off the active/PUP list Saturday, Vic Tafur of The Athletic reports.

Robinson was dealing with an undisclosed injury to open up training camp but is now healthy again. He appeared in three games with San Francisco last season before suffering a torn ACL and will spend the remainder of the summer competing for a spot on the team's final roster.

  • 49ers' Curtis Robinson: Not healthy to open camp

Robinson (undisclosed) was placed on the active/PUP list Friday.

Robinson missed the majority of the 2024 season with a torn ACL, so the issue could still be lingering. If that's the case, he should have the chance to return at some point during training camp, though an exact timeline is unclear.

  • 49ers' Curtis Robinson: Re-signs on one-year deal

Robinson (knee) re-signed with the 49ers on Thursday via a one-year contract.

Robinson missed all but the first three games of the 2024 campaign due to a torn ACL, but he figures to be ready for the start of offseason activities. The depth linebacker has spent the last four years in San Francisco, in which span he's contributed almost exclusively on special teams.

  • 49ers' Curtis Robinson: Officially placed on IR

San Francisco placed Robinson (knee) on injured reserve Saturday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.

Robinson tore his ACL during Thursday's practice, and the 26-year-old linebacker will undergo season-ending surgery. His year ends with one solo tackle across three regular-season games, while he played solely on special teams.

  • 49ers' Curtis Robinson: Tears ACL in practice

Robinson suffered a torn ACL during Thursday's practice, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.

Robinson was carted to the team facility after injuring his knee during practice, and further tests revealed that the 26-year-old linebacker sustained a season-ending injury. He'll shift his focus to rehab and recovery and aim to be fully healthy ahead of the 2025 season. In Robinson's absence, rookie seventh-round pick Tatum Bethune will step into a rotational role at linebacker behind starters Fred Warner, De'Vondre Campbell and Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles.

  • 49ers' Curtis Robinson: Back from IR

The 49ers activated Robinson (ankle) from injured reserve Saturday, Josh Dubow of The Associated Press reports.

After missing the 49ers' first five games while recovering from a high-ankle sprain, Robinson returned to practice Wednesday. The 49ers apparently came away encouraged by how Robinson checked out during those three sessions, so he looks as though he could get the chance to make his 2022 debut Sunday in Atlanta. The 24-year-old is projected to serve as a depth option at linebacker.

  • 49ers' Curtis Robinson: Designated to return

The 49ers announced Wednesday that Robinson (ankle) has been designated to return from injured reserve, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports.

Robinson hasn't yet suited up for a game this season due to a high-ankle sprain suffered during San Francisco's preseason finale. The second-year linebacker now looks to be nearing a return, though it remains to be seen if he'll gain clearance in time to play Week 6 versus Atlanta.

  • 49ers' Curtis Robinson: Lands on IR

The 49ers placed Robinson (ankle) on injured reserve Wednesday.

Robinson suffered a high ankle sprain during the team's preseason finale and will be forced to miss at least the first four games of the regular season after landing on IR. • 49ers' Curtis Robinson: Diagnosed with high ankle sprain

Robinson suffered a high ankle sprain during Thursday's preseason contest against the Texans, David Lombardi of The Athletic reports.

Robinson was diagnosed with a high ankle sprain after being ruled out for the remainder of Thursday's preseason finale. The depth linebacker had already missed significant time during training camp due to a groin injury, so it's unlikely he'll have a spot on the team's initial 53-man roster.

  • 49ers' Curtis Robinson: Ruled out for Thursday

Robinson (ankle) will not return to Thursday's preseason finale against the Texans, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Robinson has been dealing with a groin injury for most of August and he was considered questionable leading up to Thursday. Now, the linebacker may be forced to miss even more time as he deals with recovering from an ankle injury. With Robinson inactive, Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles, Marcelino McCrary-Ball and Segun Olubi will see extended minutes for the remainder of Thursday's contest.

  • 49ers' Curtis Robinson: Set to miss time with injury

Robinson (groin) is expected to miss the 49ers' practices this week while dealing with a groin injury, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

It's unclear when the 24-year-old sustained this injury, and he's likely a question mark for San Francisco's preseason matchup against the Vikings on Aug. 20. Robinson played exclusively on special teams (37 snaps) over the final three regular-season games for the 49ers in 2021 before re-signing with the team in January. With the second-year middle linebacker sidelined, backups Marcelino McCrary-Ball and Jeremiah Gemmel should see increased snaps during practice this week.
