Bears' Braxton Jones: Heads to IR
Jones (knee) was placed on the injured reserve list Saturday.
Jones didn't practice both Thursday and Friday due to a knee injury, and he'll now be forced to miss at least Chicago's next four contests after his placement on IR. While he's sidelined, expect Ozzy Trapilo to serve as the Bears' top reserve offensive tackle.

Bears' Braxton Jones: Out for Week 8
Jones (knee) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Ravens.
Jones downgraded from a limited session Wednesday to DNPs on Thursday and Friday, so it's no surprise he'll be sidelined for the Week 8 contest. Expect Ozzy Trapilo to operate as the Bears' top reserve tackle in Jones' stead.

Bears' Braxton Jones: Starting LT for Week 1
Head coach Ben Johnson told reporters Tuesday that Jones will start at left tackle for the Bears' Week 1 clash against the Vikings on Monday, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports.
Jones started in 12 games in 2024 but missed the final two contests of the regular season due to a left ankle fracture. He was cleared to practice at the start of training camp and beat out Kiran Amegadjie, Theo Benedet and rookie second-rounder Ozzy Trapilo for the starting job at left tackle. Jones and guard Joe Thuney will be responsible for protecting the left side of the offensive line for the start of the 2025 campaign.

Bears' Braxton Jones: No longer hampered by ankle
Jones (ankle) has been practicing during training camp and took first-team reps at left tackle Tuesday, per Bear Report.
Jones ended last season on IR due to a left ankle fracture that required surgery. The 2022 fifth-round draft selection has had enough time to recover and is competing for the starting role at left tackle. Chicago selected another LT, Ozzy Trapilo, in the second round of April's NFL Draft, but Jones seems to have the leg up to start given that he's getting most of the work with the starters during camp. Kiran Amegadjie, who started one game at tackle last year, has also gotten some reps with the first team early in the preseason.
