Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: Working with trainers Wednesday
Head coach Brian Schottenheimer said Ferguson (ankle) will work with the Cowboys' training staff during Wednesday's practice, Briana Aldridge of CBS News Texas reports.
Such comments are an indication that Ferguson will go down as a DNP to kick off Week 9 prep, something that'll be revealed on Wednesday's injury report. Ferguson is tending to a low-ankle sprain in the wake of this past Sunday's loss to the Cardinals.

Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: Has chance to play Sunday
Head coach Brian Schottenheimer said Monday that Ferguson (ankle) has a chance to play Sunday at Indianapolis, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
Ferguson hurt his ankle early in Sunday's eventual overtime loss to the Cardinals, eventually was ruled out and then diagnosed with a low-ankle sprain. Schottenheimer's comments one day later follow the general belief that players often are able to gut out such injuries, but how Ferguson fares in practice Wednesday through Friday will determine his availability for Week 9.

Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: Sustains low-ankle sprain
Ferguson suffered a low-ankle sprain during Sunday's loss to the Cardinals, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reports.
Ferguson picked up an ankle injury on the Cowboys' first drive of the game and eventually was ruled out after halftime. He thus finished Week 8 without a target, making it his second contest in a row with no catches in the box score. Low-ankle sprains typically can be played through, but Ferguson's status will be watched to get a sense of his potential to suit up next Sunday at Indianapolis.

Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: Ruled out for rest of game
Ferguson (ankle) won't return to Sunday's game against the Cardinals, Joe Hoyt reports.
Prior to his exit, Ferguson wasn't targeted by QB Dak Prescott. In his absence versus Arizona, Brevyn Spann-Ford and James Mitchell are available to handle TE duties for the remainder of Sunday's contest.

Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: Injures ankle Sunday
Ferguson suffered an ankle injury during Sunday's game against the Cardinals, Tommy Yarrish of the Cowboys' official site reports.
Ferguson exited on the Cowboys' first offensive possession and is questionable to return. With Luke Schoonmaker (groin) inactive, Brevyn Spann-Ford and James Mitchell are the active healthy tight ends for Dallas.

Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: Blanked on MNF
Ferguson failed to haul in his lone target during Monday's 38-21 win over the Eagles.
Monday was the first time since Week 8 of the 2025 season that Ferguson failed to record a catch, and the only pass he saw from Dak Prescott was on a broken play in the red zone early in the fourth quarter. Ferguson's 38 offensive snaps were only two more than fellow tight end Brevyn Spann-Ford, and the latter's role in the offense has grown over the last few weeks at the expense of the former. Week 8 against the Cardinals presents itself as a bounce-back opportunity for Ferguson, seeing as Arizona's defense ranks 27th in the NFL in fantasy points allowed per game to tight ends.

Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: Two catches during SNF
Ferguson caught two of three targets for 13 yards during Sunday night's 23-13 loss to the Packers.
Ferguson matched his season low with two catches, and he has now been held to 23 or fewer yards in five of six contests to open the season. The tight end hasn't found the end zone since Week 3, and through six games, he's caught 17 of 24 targets for 115 yards and three scores. Ferguson reeled in a career-high 82 passes over 17 regular-season contests in 2025, and he has some work to do to return to that form in 2026.

Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: Inadvertently causes crucial turnover
Ferguson brought in three of six targets for 19 yards in the Cowboys' 24-16 loss to the Buccaneers on Thursday night.
Ferguson was a distant second in targets to George Pickens' 13, but the veteran tight end failed to eclipse 25 receiving yards for the fourth time in the first five games. Ferguson's night -- and by extension, that of the Cowboys -- ended on a very sour note when he had a late fourth-quarter pass from Dak Prescott bounce off his hands and result in an Alex Anzalone interception that helped seal the victory for Tampa Bay. Ferguson has mustered a modest 15-102-3 line on 21 targets heading into a Week 6 road matchup against the Packers on Sunday night, Oct. 18.

Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: Three catches in Week 4 win
Ferguson caught three of four targets for 11 yards in Sunday's 34-30 win over the Texans.
Ferguson is averaging a career low 2.5 yards after catch per reception and just 0.71 yards per route run through four games to begin the season. He has three touchdowns on the year but otherwise has caught just 12 passes for 83 yards on 15 targets in Dallas' high-volume passing attack. He's merely fighting for scraps behind CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens and has devolved into a touchdown-or-bust fantasy bet.
