Packers' Clayton Tune: Set for Week 18 start
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said Thursday that Tune will start Sunday's regular-season finale on the road against Minnesota, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
Tune will start Week 18 despite Jordan Love having fully cleared the NFL's concussion protocol, with Green Bay already having secured the No. 7 seed on the NFC side of the playoffs and opting to prioritize the health of its starters. Per Weston Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official site, it has not yet been determined who will operate as Tune's backup versus the Vikings on Sunday between Malik Willis (shoulder/hamstring) and recent practice-squad signee Desmond Ridder, or even Love. It will be a tough ask for Tune to find much success against Minnesota and defensive coordinator Brian Flores, especially if Green Bay decides to rest other offensive starters at the skill positions.

Packers' Clayton Tune: Signed to active roster
The Packers signed Tune to the active roster from the practice squad Wednesday.
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur has already announced that the team will rest some starters during Sunday's regular-season finale against the Vikings, per Zach Kruse of USA Today. With Jordan Love (concussion) and Malik Willis (shoulder) both less than 100 percent healthy, that could pave the way for Tune to start Sunday. Green Bay also inked veteran quarterback Desmond Ridder to the practice squad Wednesday.

Clayton Tune: Returns to practice squad
Tune reverted to the Packers' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log.
Tune was elevated to serve as the team's No. 2 quarterback behind Malik Willis (shoulder) in Saturday's 41-24 loss to the Ravens with Jordan Love (concussion) unavailable. Tune completed one of four passes for eight yards while throwing an interception, logging eight snaps on offense. The interception came in the fourth quarter when Tune was thrust into the game with Willis briefly sidelined following an aggravation of his previous shoulder issue. With the Packers locked in as the No. 7 seed in the NFC playoffs, it's possible that Love sits in Week 18 and Tune serves as the primary backup behind Willis against the Vikings.

Packers' Clayton Tune: Closes out Week 17 loss
Tune completed one of four passes for eight yards, no touchdowns and one interception in Saturday's 41-24 loss to the Ravens.
Malik Willis (shoulder) started and played the majority of Saturday's game, though he was forced to exit late in the fourth quarter. Tune entered in relief and threw an interception on his first attempt, despite hitting his receiver on the hands with the pass. His lone completion went to Emanuel Wilson. Tune could be in line to start in Week 18 if the Packers don't have playoff seeding to play for.

Packers' Clayton Tune: Likely serving as No. 2 QB
Tune was elevated from the practice squad to the Packers' active roster Saturday.
With Jordan Love (concussion) set to miss Saturday's matchup against the Ravens, Tune is expected to operate as the Packers' No. 2 quarterback, playing behind Malik Willis (shoulder, questionable). Tune, a 2023 fifth-round pick from Houston, last played with the Cardinals in 2024, when he completed both of his pass attempts for eight yards across 31 offensive snaps.

Clayton Tune: Heading to Green Bay
The Packers signed Tune to the practice squad Thursday.
The Cardinals opted to go with two quarterbacks in Kyler Murray and Jacoby Brissett on the 53-man roster, making Tune the odd man out. Rather than stay in Arizona on the practice squad, Tune will instead head to Green Bay, where he would be in line to be elevated to the Packers' active roster were Jordan Love or Malik Willis miss any time.

Clayton Tune: Cut by Cards
The Cardinals waived Tune on Monday, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports.
Tune got plenty of run in Arizona's three preseason games, including playing all 56 offensive snaps this past Saturday against the Raiders. Overall, he completed 30 of 49 passes for 186 yards, one touchdown and one interception and rushed nine times for 53 yards. With Kyler Murray and Jacoby Brissett locked in to the top two spots on the QB depth chart, Tune lost out in the number games but is a candidate to be brought back on the team's practice squad.

Cardinals' Clayton Tune: Sparse usage in 2024
Tune completed two of two passes for eight yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions, recorded seven carries for minus-4 yards and lost his only fumble in six games during the 2024 regular season.
The majority of Tune's appearances in his second pro campaign occurred in kneel-down scenarios, as Kyler Murray handled 96.6 percent of the offensive snaps. A 2023 fifth-round pick, Tune has 23 passes without a touchdown and 15 carries with one TD on his resume in 13 career contests. With Murray entering the second year of the extension he signed in July 2022, Tune will continue to operate as the Cardinals' primary backup QB in 2025.
