C.J. Beathard: Joins Detroit's practice squad
The Lions signed Beathard to the practice squad Thursday.
In a transaction first reported Wednesday, Beathard now officially joins the Lions' practice squad as the emergency No. 3 quarterback behind starter Jared Goff and backup Kyle Allen. He handled a similar role for Jacksonville last season.

C.J. Beathard: In line to sign with Detroit
Beathard is expected to sign with the Lions' practice squad, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Beathard spent the 2024 campaign with the Jaguars, primarily operating as the team's emergency No. 3 quarterback behind Trevor Lawrence and Mac Jones. He's now on track to operate in the same role with the Lions in 2025 behind starter Jared Goff and backup Kyle Allen.
