Bills' James Cook: Highly efficient with 12 carries
Cook rushed 12 times for 75 yards and a touchdown and brought in both targets for eight yards in the Bills' 29-26 loss to the Patriots on Sunday.
Cook consistently ripped off productive gains on the ground against the Patriots' defense, with his longest run of the day going for a relatively modest 17 yards. Cook's overall rushing opportunities were still somewhat capped, and he finished with a new season low in carries. However, the talented back extended his streak of games with a rushing TD to three when he went in from eight yards out early in the second quarter. Cook has now averaged well over 6.0 yards per carry for three straight games and is up to 421 rushing yards and three scores on the ground heading into a Week 5 road showdown against the Rams on Monday night, Oct. 12.

Bills' James Cook: Another stellar effort in win
Cook rushed 24 times for 154 yards and a touchdown and failed to bring in his only target in the Bills' 24-16 win over the Chargers on Sunday. He also lost a fumble.
Although neither offense looked anywhere close to cohesive as a whole, Cook was a rare exception. The star running back delivered another dominant performance on the ground despite his day getting off on the wrong foot, as he lost a fumble on the first play from scrimmage and saw the Chargers parlay it into a touchdown. Cook's longest run of the day was a relatively modest 23 yards, meaning he consistently ripped off chunk gains against the Chargers defense. Cook also went in for his second touchdown of the season at a critical juncture in the fourth quarter, extending a 17-13 Bills lead with a three-yard run. Cook has quickly amassed 346 rushing yards at 6.0 yards per carry over his first three games, affording him an abundance of momentum heading into a Week 4 divisional home showdown against the Patriots next Sunday.

Bills' James Cook: Shreds Lions defense in win
Cook rushed 21 times for 135 yards and a touchdown and brought in one of three targets for four yards in the Bills' 41-31 win over the Lions on Thursday.
Cook repeatedly gashed a Lions defense that came in with a reputation for being stingy against the run, more than atoning for a lackluster Week 1 showing against the Texans just four days earlier. The star running back rounded out his fantasy night with the final score of the high-scoring clash for the Bills, recording a one-yard touchdown run with just under three minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. Cook's multiple explosive runs throughout the night served as a reminder of why he earned such lofty draft status this summer, and he'll remain a critical component of a juggernaut Bills offense in a Week 3 home matchup against the Chargers on Sunday, Sept. 27.

Bills' James Cook: Held in check by Houston
Cook rushed 13 times for 57 yards and caught three of four targets for 12 yards in Sunday's 36-31 win over the Texans.
Cook didn't find much room against Houston's stout front and took a back seat to Josh Allen, who had two rushing touchdowns and two touchdown passes. Allen's presence didn't stop Cook from rushing for a league-high 1,621 rushing yards during the 2025 regular season, so there should be better days ahead for Buffalo's shifty running back. Cook will have a short turnaround before Buffalo's home opener against the Lions on Thursday.
