Top Trenton Irwin News

  • Trenton Irwin: Catches on with Gang Green

The Jets signed Irwin to the practice squad Tuesday, Susanna Weir of the team's official site reports.

The 29-year-old wideout out of Stanford was unable to make the Jaguars' 53-man roster at the end of training camp, but he'll get another opportunity with the Jets on the practice squad. Irwin has appeared in 41 regular-season games since 2019 (23 of which came in 2023 and 2024 when he was a member of the Bengals) and has accumulated 46 catches (on 72 targets) for 601 yards and five touchdowns in his NFL career.

  • Trenton Irwin: Unable to secure roster spot

    Jacksonville released Irwin on Tuesday.

Irwin joined the Jaguars on a one-year contract in early June, but he won't make the team's initial 53-man roster. The 29-year-old could get a chance with another club in need of veteran wideout depth.

  • Jaguars' Trenton Irwin: Signs with Jacksonville

Irwin and the Jaguars agreed on a contract Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Irwin will head to Jacksonville after spending the 2024 campaign with the Bengals and Panthers, reeling in three of 10 targets for 15 yards over seven games with Cincinnati. The wide receiver will look to impress this summer in order to potentially snag an active roster spot with the Jaguars in 2025.

  • Trenton Irwin: Gets chance with Carolina

The Panthers are signing Irwin to the practice squad Tuesday and plan to elevate him to the 53-man roster shortly, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Irwin was waived by Cincinnati in Week 14, and he now earns a chance to continue his development in Carolina. The veteran wideout suited up for seven games with the Bengals this season and in that time secured just three of 10 targets for 15 yards.

  • Trenton Irwin: Gets let go

Irwin was waived by the Bengals on Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Irwin was a healthy scratch Week 13 and has generally seen very limited opportunities when the Bengals' receivers have been healthy. Isaiah Williams, who was recently claimed off waivers, also seems to have taken over Irwin's punt-returner role. Assuming Irwin goes unclaimed, he'd be a likely candidate to return to the Bengals' practice squad.

  • Bengals' Trenton Irwin: Healthy scratch Week 13

Irwin (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's matchup against Pittsburgh.

Irwin had frequently been a healthy inactive early this season, but he saw more opportunity when Tee Higgins was out with an injury Weeks 8 to 10. With Higgins back in Week 11, though, Irwin logged just three offensive snaps, and he won't play at all Week 13 following the Bengals' bye. With Charlie Jones (groin) also inactive Sunday, rookie Isaiah Williams could be asked to handle punts and may also get a few opportunities on offense.

  • Bengals' Trenton Irwin: No catches in win

Irwin failed to haul in his only target in Sunday's 41-24 win over the Raiders.

For the second straight week, Irwin played double-digit snaps on offense with Tee Higgins (quadricep) out of the lineup, but he didn't make much of a mark in the box score. Through five appearances this season, Irwin has tallied three catches for 15 yards on 10 targets.
