Mahogany (illness) was been ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against the Vikings.
Despite being a full participant in all three practices this week, Mahogany will once again be sidelined with an illness that has kept him out of the Vikings first five regular-season games. The rookie sixth-round pick's next opportunity to suit up will be Week 8 against the Titans on Oct. 27.

Lions' Christian Mahogany: Ruled out for Sunday
Mahogany (illness) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against Dallas, according to the Lions' official site.
Mahogany has missed the entire season up this point with an illness, and his absence will be extended at least until Week 7 versus the Vikings. The 2024 sixth-round pick did return to practice this past week, so there's hope that his return could come soon after Sunday's game.

Detroit designated Mahogany (illness) for return to practice Tuesday, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.
Mahogany has missed the whole season up to this point due to an unspecified illness, but his return to practice signals that the 2024 sixth-round pick could soon make his NFL debut. The 23-year-old guard will most likely fill a backup role along Detroit's offensive line once he's activated from the reserve/non-football illness list.

Mahogany (illness) was moved to Detroit's reserve/non-football illness list Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
The specifics of Mahogany's ailment are still unknown at this point, but it's apparently serious enough to keep him off the field for the foreseeable future. In the meantime, Kayode Awosika could be seen as the next man up at guard if Kevin Zeitler (shoulder) misses time to start the new campaign.

The Lions selected Mahogany in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 210th overall.
Mahogany gained a reputation for playing with intensity in his five years at Boston College, and he earned All-ACC honors in his last two healthy seasons. Projected as a mid-round pick, he may have slipped further than anticipated due to a torn ACL that forced him to miss the entire 2022 campaign. The Lions were likely attracted to his mean streak on the field, and he'll bring the ability to play both right and left guard to the team's offensive line.
