The Commanders reverted Jefferson to their practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Jefferson was elevated for the first time this season ahead of Sunday's Week 5 tie with the Giants. He logged three snaps on offense without drawing a target or touch while adding 13 snaps on special teams. Whether Jefferson gets elevated again Week 6 versus San Francisco may depend upon whether Stefon Diggs is able to return from a hamstring injury.

The wide receiver was released by Washington on Aug. 30. Jefferson has 166 career regular-season catches for 2,226 yards and 13 touchdowns across six different NFL campaigns. In Washington, he joins a receiver room that thins out significantly after veterans Terry McLaurin and Stefon Diggs.

Jefferson (forearm) is signing with the Commanders, Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic reports.
Jefferson finished the 2025 regular season with the Titans on injured reserve due to a forearm injury, but he looks to have recovered. Prior to that injury, the six-year NFL veteran recorded 350 receiving yards in 16 games. Jefferson had 802 regular-season receiving yards back in 2021 with the Rams but hasn't topped 369 in any of his other five campaigns, which suggests he's likely ticketed for a depth role in Washington.
