  • Giants' Armon Watts: Shifts to IR

Watts (knee) was placed on injured reserve Friday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports. Watts sustained a knee injury in the Giants' Week 17 win over the Colts and was unable to practice all week, making his shift to IR on Friday no surprise. The 27-year-old appeared in just five games for the Giants this season, recording seven total tackles over 83 defensive snaps. White Watts is sidelined for the Giants' Week 18 divisional matchup against the Eagles, expect Elijah Garcia to serve as the team's top reserve defensive end.

  • Giants' Armon Watts: Suiting up against Indianapolis

Watts (shoulder) is active for Sunday's game against the Colts, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports. Watts missed the Giants' last four games due to a shoulder injury. He progressed enough in his recovery this past week to be activated off injured reserve Saturday, and he will be available to play Sunday. Watts and Elijah Garcia will provide rotational depth at defensive end behind starters Elijah Chatman and Rakeem Nunez-Roches.

  • Giants' Armon Watts: Activated off IR on Saturday

The Giants activated Watts (shoulder) from injured reserve Saturday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports. Watts was placed on injured reserve in late November due to a shoulder injury he picked up in Week 12 against the Buccaneers. He logged two consecutive full practices to end the week, and while he remains questionable for Sunday's game against the Colts, his activation from IR indicates that he should make his return from a four-game absence. The 2019 sixth-round pick has logged six tackles (three solo) across four regular-season games.

  • Giants' Armon Watts: Placed on IR

Watts (shoulder) was placed on injured reserve Wednesday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports. Watts was expected to miss Thursday's contest against the Cowboys as a result of a shoulder injury he presumably suffered in Week 12 versus the Buccaneers, but he will now be forced to sit out at least the next four games with the injury. In his absence, Jordon Riley is a candidate to see additional snaps on the defensive line.

  • Armon Watts: Works out with Giants

The Giants worked out Watts (undisclosed) on Tuesday, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports. Watts was released from New England's injured reserve list earlier this month, but he's already getting some attention from another team. He's still waiting to make his 2024 season debut.

  • Armon Watts: Released from Pats' IR

The Patriots released Watts (undisclosed) from injured reserve Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Watts was placed on IR at the end of training camp with an unspecified injury. He was set to miss the entire 2024 season, but the 2019 sixth-round pick will now have the chance to sign with a team once he's fully healthy. Watts appeared in 15 regular-season games for the Steelers in 2023, during which he tallied 15 tackles (six solo), including 0.5 sacks.

  • Patriots' Armon Watts: Moves to IR

  • Patriots' Armon Watts: Joining new squad

Watts is signing a contract with the Patriots on Wednesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Watts' contract details are unclear, but the 27-year-old will spend the 2024 campaign in New England after playing the 2023 season with the Steelers. The Arkansas product played 260 snaps on defense across 15 contests last season, recording 15 combined tackles, including 0.5 sacks.

  • Bears' Armon Watts: Set for free agency

Watts notched three tackles in the Bears' 29-13 loss to the Vikings in Week 18, and ended the season with 35 tackles and one sack over 17 games played. Watts played about 30 snaps per game as a backup defensive tackle after coming off a career season in 2021 with the Vikings, when he recorded 46 tackles and five sacks. In his rotational role, he averaged two tackles per game, and he'll likely land a similar role next year. He's now an unrestricted free agent.

  • Bears' Armon Watts: Claimed by Bears

Chicago claimed Watts from waivers Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Watts is coming off a 2021 season with Minnesota in which he appeared in 16 games and recorded 46 tackles and five sacks, so it was somewhat surprising when the Vikings opted to waive him Tuesday. He should compete with Justin Jones and Angelo Blackson for regular reps at defensive tackle in 2022.

  • Vikings' Armon Watts: Taken in sixth round

The Vikings selected Watts in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft, 190th overall. Watts (6-foot-5, 300 pounds) was a three-star recruit out of high school and didn't earn much playing time at Arkansas until his senior season, when he started 11 of 12 games en route to a team-leading seven sacks and three forced fumbles. With more seasoning, it's possible Watts could develop as a solid pass rusher from the interior of the Vikings' defensive line.
