  • Packers' Jaire Alexander: Signing record-setting extension

Alexander agreed to a four-year, $84 million contract extension with the Packers on Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Alexander plans to sign a contract with Green Bay that will make him the highest-paid player at his position based on average annual value and tie him to the team for the next five seasons. The 25-year-old cornerback missed 13 games in 2021 due to a shoulder injury suffered Week 4 but has been one of the league's premier lockdown coverage corners when healthy with double-digit passes defended in each of his first three seasons. Alexander will play this coming season on the fifth-year option on his rookie deal, with this new extension running from 2023 to 2026, according to Schefter, while lowering his 2022 base salary to just $1.076 million.

  • Packers' Jaire Alexander: Loses 13 games to injury in 2021

Alexander appeared in just four games in 2021 and recorded 13 tackles (nine solo), an interception and three pass deflections.

Alexander earned his first Pro Bowl berth in 2020 and got off to a good start in 2021, but he injured his shoulder and Week 4 and sat out the next 13 games. He was able to make it back for the Packers' playoff loss to the 49ers, so his health is no longer a concern. With a normal offseason ahead, Alexander will attempt to stamp himself as the best -- and perhaps, highest-paid -- cornerback in the league in 2022.

  • Packers' Jaire Alexander: Active for divisional round

Alexander is listed as active for Saturday night's divisional-round matchup against the 49ers, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.

Alexander will be active for the first time since returning from injured reserve ahead of Week 17. It's still unknown how much the star cornerback will be utilized in the Packers' defense after recovering from a sprained AC joint suffered in Week 8, so cornerbacks Eric Stokes and Rasul Douglas may still see significant action in this win-or-go-home matchup.

  • Packers' Jaire Alexander: Questionable against San Francisco

Alexander (shoulder) is questionable for Saturday's divisional-round matchup against the 49ers, Wes Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official site reports.

Alexander was activated from injured reserve ahead of Week 17 but failed to appear in either of Green Bay's final two regular-season games. He was limited in practice Tuesday and Wednesday and will have a chance to return for the Packers' playoff opener.

  • Packers' Jaire Alexander: Returns to practice

Alexander (shoulder) was a limited participant at Tuesday's practice.

The cornerback has been inactive since Week 4 while nursing a AC joint injury in his shoulder, and he was activated from injured reserve just ahead of Week 18. Alexander's ability to practice Tuesday is a step in the right direction for his chances to play Saturday against the 49ers, but his status the rest of the week will provide a clearer picture of his availability for the contest.

  • Packers' Jaire Alexander: Remains out

Alexander (shoulder) is inactive Sunday against the Lions, Mike Spofford of the Packers' official site reports.

Alexander was activated from IR ahead of Week 17 and spent time in COVID protocols this week, but his shoulder will still keep him out Sunday against the Lions. The hope still remains that he will return in time for the playoffs. In his absence, Eric Stokes and Rasul Douglas will still man the starting cornerback spots.
