  • Panthers' D.J. Wonnum: Inks deal with Carolina

The Panthers signed Wonnum (quadriceps) to a two-year deal Thursday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.

Wonnum was forced to miss the end of the Vikings' 2023 campaign due to a quadriceps injury, but it now seems as if he's moved past the issue. The 26-year-old edge rusher is coming off the most productive season of his career, appearing in 15 games and recording 62 total tackles, including 8.0 sacks, while also defending six passes. With the departure of Brian Burns this offseason, Wonnum has a chance to serve as the Panthers' top pass rusher in 2024.

The 26-year-old linebacker had appeared in all 15 of Minnesota's games before sustaining the quadriceps injury. He'll undergo surgery in the near future and will conclude his 2023 campaign with 62 total tackles, eight sacks, six pass breakups, one fumble recovery and one touchdown. • Vikings' D.J. Wonnum: Likely done for season

Wonnum (quadriceps) suffered a partially torn quad during Sunday's 30-24 loss to the Lions, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

The Vikings haven't yet confirmed whether Wonnum's injury is a season-ending one, but the severity of a quad tear indicates that the veteran linebacker will likely require surgery and be placed on IR. Through 15 games this season, Wonnum has racked up a career-high 62 tackles (33 solo), including eight sacks, one pass breakup, one forced fumble and one touchdown.

  • Vikings' D.J. Wonnum: Dealing with quadriceps injury

Head coach Kevin O'Connell told reporters after Sunday's 30-24 loss to the Lions that the team is evaluating Wonnum to confirm a quadriceps injury, Ben Goessling of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Wonnum was carted off the field in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game in what was originally reported as a knee injury. The fact he was carted off the field doesn't bode well for his chances to play in either (or both) of the Vikings' final two games of the season.
