  • Chiefs' Chris Oladokun: Slated to start Week 17

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid confirmed Tuesday that Oladokun will start at quarterback for the Chiefs in Thursday's game against the Broncos, Charles Goldman of AtoZSports.com reports.

Kansas City will be breaking in its third starting quarterback in as many games, with Oladokun getting his chance after Patrick Mahomes (knee) suffered season-ending ACL and LCL tears in Week 15 and after Gardner Minshew (knee) went down with a season-ending tibial plateau fracture in Week 16. A 2022 seventh-round draft pick, Oladokun ended up seeing his first extended NFL snaps in relief of Minshew in last Sunday's 26-9 loss to the Titans, completing 11 of 16 pass attempts for 111 yards while adding seven yards on two carries. Oladokun doesn't profile as a recommended option in fantasy lineups for Week 17 while he makes his first NFL start against one of the league's top defenses and potentially without the services of top wideout Rashee Rice (concussion), who has yet to practice this week and appears likely to sit out Thursday.

  • Chiefs' Chris Oladokun: Pressed into duty Sunday

Oladokun completed 11 of 16 passes for 111 yards in Sunday's 26-9 loss to the Titans. He added seven rushing yards on two carries.

A seventh-round pick of the Steelers back in 2022, Oladukon made his NFL debut last season with Kansas City in Week 18 but didn't attempt a pass. Signed off the practice squad this week to replace Patrick Mahomes (knee) on the roster and back up Gardner Minshew, Oladokun instead found himself running the offense when Minshew went down with a knee injury of his own. The South Dakota State product played relatively well all things considered, even if he failed to produce a TD drive. With Minshew feared to have suffered a torn ACL, Oladokun looks set to start the final two games of the season, but he'll face a much tougher test in Week 17 against the Broncos. Look for Kansas City to sign a veteran backup this week, as the team has no other healthy QBs in the organization after Oladokun.

  • Chiefs' Chris Oladokun: Signs with active roster

The Chiefs signed Oladokun off their practice squad Saturday.

With Patrick Mahomes (knee) sustaining a torn ACL in the Week 15 loss to the Chargers, Oladokun's signing provides the Chiefs with much-needed depth at quarterback. Now with Kansas City's active roster, the South Dakota State product is expected to back up Gardner Minshew during Sunday's matchup against the Titans.

  • Chris Oladokun: Sticking with KC on practice squad

Oladokun signed with Kansas City's practice squad Wednesday, Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com reports.

Oladokun will provide organizational depth under center behind rostered quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Gardner Minshew. Oladokun went unclaimed after being waived Tuesday.

  • Chris Oladokun: Dropped by Kansas City

Oladokun was waived by the Chiefs on Tuesday.

Oladokun signed a reserve/future contract with Kansas City in February after spending the majority of the 2024 campaign on the team's practice squad. The quarterback completed 11 of 23 passes for 120 yards and turned two carries into 36 rushing yards over three preseason contests with the team. If Oladokun clears waivers, he'll likely stick around as a member of the Chiefs' practice squad in 2025.

  • Chiefs' Chris Oladokun: Inks future deal with Kansas City

Kansas City signed Oladokun to a reserve/future contract Tuesday, Charles Goldman of A to Z sports reports.

After failing to make the team's 53-man roster at the end of training camp, Oladokun was invited back by Kansas City in mid-October to join the practice squad. He was elevated for Week 18 against the Broncos to serve as the backup quarterback behind Carson Wentz while Patrick Mahomes rested. Oladokun will participate in OTAs, minicamp and training camp but seems highly unlikely to win the No. 2 quarterback job behind Mahomes.

  • Chris Oladokun: Reverts to practice squad

Oladokun reverted to Kansas City's practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.

Oladokun was elevated for Week 18 against Denver with Patrick Mahomes (ankle) given the day off to rest. Oladokun served as the No. 2 quarterback in the contest behind Carson Wentz and logged five offensive snaps, carrying once for five yards and taking a six-yard loss on a sack. Mahomes will almost certainly be back in action when Kansas City plays its next game in the AFC divisional round, so Oladokun isn't expected to be active for that contest.

  • Chiefs' Chris Oladokun: Gets elevation for Week 18

The Chiefs elevated Oladokun from their practice squad to their active roster Saturday, Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com reports.

Patrick Mahomes (ankle) isn't expected to play Sunday against Denver with Kansas City having wrapped up the AFC's No. 1 playoff seed, so the Chiefs are likely to deploy Oladokun as their backup QB behind Carson Wentz. Oladokun has yet to see action in an NFL game, and he's spent the last two years with Kansas City's practice squad. He probably won't see much, if any, action Sunday unless Wentz is forced to exit the contest.

  • Chris Oladokun: Signed to Chiefs' practice squad

Kansas City signed Oladokun to the practice squad Tuesday, Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com reports.

Oladokun takes the practice squad spot left by Bailey Zappe, who signed with Cleveland on Tuesday. A 2022 seventh-round pick who is still looking for a chance to make his regular-season debut, Oladokun worked as the Chiefs' practice squad quarterback last season and is familiar with the system.
