The Chargers placed Slater (ankle) on injured reserve Friday.
Slater underwent ankle surgery Thursday after suffering a high-ankle sprain during Sunday's loss to the Seahawks. The left tackle will now need to miss at least four games on IR before the Chargers can return him to the active roster.
