  • Titans' Tyjae Spears: Could return for Week 8

Speaking with the media Monday, coach Brian Callahan said Spears (hamstring) could return for Week 8 against the Lions, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.

Spears pulled his hamstring Week 6 against the Colts and missed this past Sunday's loss to the Bills. Tony Pollard had to briefly exit the Buffalo contest to be checked for a concussion, leaving Julius Chestnut as the Titans' de facto RB1 for a moment in time. Pollard eventually returned, and it sounds like Spears could be back sooner than later. He was unable to practice all last week, so a limited session Wednesday would be a step in the right direction.

  • Titans' Tyjae Spears: Won't play Sunday

Spears (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Bills, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.

Spears will thus target a potential return to action Oct. 27 against the Lions. In his absence Sunday, Tony Pollard is in line to log the bulk of the Titans' Week 7 work at running back, with Julius Chestnut and potentially practice squad member Joshua Kelley also mixing in.

  • Titans' Tyjae Spears: Another missed practice

Spears (hamstring) remained sidelined at practice Thursday, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.

Spears, who also missed Wednesday's session, has one more chance to practice ahead of Sunday's game against the Bills. If Spears is unable to play this weekend, offensive coordinator Nick Holz told Wyatt on Thursday that Tony Pollard would likely get bulk of the Titans' work at running back, with Julius Chestnut and possibly Joshua Kelley also mixing in.

  • Titans' Tyjae Spears: No practice Wednesday

Spears (hamstring) won't practice Wednesday, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.

Head coach Brian Callahan said Monday that Spears is viewed as week-to-week, so the running back's absence Wednesday isn't surprising. If Spears is unavailable Sunday against the Bills, Julius Chestnut would be next in line for work out of the Tennessee backfield behind Tony Pollard. The Titans would also likely elevate at least one of Joshua Kelley and Jabari Small from the practice squad to provide a third option out of the backfield if Spears is out.

  • Titans' Tyjae Spears: Deemed week-to-week by coach

Head coach Brian Callahan said Monday that Spears (hamstring) is considered week-to-week, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.

Spears injured his hamstring in Sunday's 20-17 loss to the Colts. While the week-to-week label doesn't officially rule Spears out for this upcoming Sunday's game against the Bills, his chances of suiting up are probably less than 50 percent. Julius Chestnut received the only carry by a Tennessee running back other than Tony Pollard or Spears in the loss to Indianapolis.

  • Titans' Tyjae Spears: Injures hamstring Sunday

Spears departed Sunday's game against the Colts due to a hamstring injury, Turron Davenport of ESPN.com reports.

Prior to his exit in the third quarter, Spears posted six carries for 27 yards and wasn't targeted. Tony Pollard and Julius Chestnut are the Titans' healthy running backs for the time being.

  • Titans' Tyjae Spears: Finds end zone in MNF win

Spears rushed 15 times for 39 yards and a touchdown while catching both of his targets for zero yards in Monday's 31-12 win over the Dolphins.

Spears scored a seven-yard touchdown on a direct snap in the third quarter. He finished with seven fewer carries than Tony Pollard, who rushed 22 times for 88 yards and a touchdown of his own. Both running backs got robust workloads as Tennessee's running game benefited from a positive game script, but Pollard continues to see about a 60/40 edge in touches over Spears. That distribution is unlikely to change Week 6 against the Colts after Tennessee's Week 5 bye.
