Wise was spotted with a splint on his middle finger following Monday's team meeting, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
Wise injured his middle finger during Sunday's loss to Jacksonville but the Patriots shockingly haven't released much information beyond what was seen. Finger injuries are not typically associated with prolonged absences so it's likely Wise won't miss much time, if any.
Wise recorded three tackles (two solo) to go along with 1.5 sacks across 23 defensive snaps in Sunday's 27-20 win over the Texans.
Wise is playing a rotational role along with Patriots' defensive line but his performance on Sunday could give the second-year pro some adding reps heading in to Week 2 as he continues to look more comfortable in the Patriots defensive schemes.
Wise has impressed early in training camp and could be pushing for a starting job at defensive end, the Boston Herald reports.
Adrian Clayborn was signed by the Patriots in March and is the likely starter at defensive end opposite Trey Flowers, but a continued strong camp effort from Wise could earn him a starting look. Wise totaled five sacks and 26 tackles (16 solo) in 16 games for the Patriots in 2017, while mostly serving as a rotational defensive end.
Wise (concussion) does not appear on the injury report ahead of Super Bowl LII.
Wise has evidently cleared concussion protocol after being a full participant in practice both Thursday and Friday. There's been no indication he'll be under any sort of snap restriction Sunday.
