  • Dailyn Swain SF | CHI

Bulls' Dailyn Swain: Out with illness

Swain (illness) is out for Wednesday's game against the Raptors, K.C. Johnson of Chicago Sports Network reports.

Swain will not travel with the team ahead of Opening Night as he recovers from this illness. His next chance to play comes Friday against the Bucks. The rookie was projected to open the season as the second-string small forward. Isaac Okoro (undisclosed) could soak up more minutes with this news.

  • Jaylon Tyson SF | CLE

Cavaliers' Jaylon Tyson: Team option picked up

The Cavaliers have exercised Tyson's fourth-year rookie-scale team option for the 2027-28 season, the team announced Tuesday.

Tyson enjoyed a breakout sophomore campaign in 2025-26, averaging 13.2 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 0.8 steals in 26.9 minutes across 66 regular-season appearances (42 starts). The 23-year-old wing shot an impressive 44.6 percent from three-point range, the fourth-best mark in the NBA, and recorded eight games with at least 20 points, including a career-high 39 against Philadelphia on Jan. 16. Tyson's emergence as a reliable perimeter threat should keep him firmly in Cleveland's rotation entering his third season.

  • Franz Wagner SF | ORL

Magic's Franz Wagner: Expected to play Wednesday

Wagner (shoulder) practiced in full Tuesday and is planning to play in Wednesday's game against the Hawks, Jason Beede of the Orlando Sentinel reports.

Orlando will release their injury report Tuesday evening ahead of Opening Night, and there's a chance Wagner may not be listed on it based on this update. For now, fantasy managers can pencil him into lineups.

  • Ron Holland PF | DET

Pistons' Ronald Holland: Team option picked up

The Pistons have exercised Holland's $11.5 million rookie-scale team option for the 2027-28 season, Keith Smith of Spotrac.com reports.

The move keeps the 2024 No. 5 overall pick under contract through his fourth NBA season. Holland will continue developing as part of Detroit's wing rotation in 2026-27, with his defensive versatility and ability to contribute offensively playing important roles in determining his playing time. The 21-year-old will become eligible for a rookie-scale contract extension in the summer of 2027.

  • Cavaliers' Nae'Qwan Tomlin: Set to miss several weeks

Tomlin is set to miss several weeks with a lower back stress reaction, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

This is a tough blow for the forward and there's no guarantee he's cleared right away when he's re-evaluated in three-to-four weeks. Tomlin wasn't projected to crack the rotation ahead of Opening Night and was penciled in to be an emergency depth option.

  • Taurean Prince SF | DET

Pistons' Taurean Prince: Out for personal reasons

Prince (personal) is out for Tuesday's game against the Celtics.

Prince was previously carrying a questionable tag and will now miss Opening Night. The veteran is expected to be an emergency depth option this season.

  • Timberwolves' Jaden McDaniels: Agrees to one-year extension with MIN

McDaniels agreed to a one-year, $40 million extension with the Timberwolves on Monday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.

McDaniels will now be under contract with Minnesota through the 2029-30 season, earning $124 million over the life of his deal. The 26-year-old forward could see an uptick in usage this season with Julius Randle no longer around, and he'll be a reliable source of stocks, making him an attractive draft-day target.

  • Dru Smith PG | MIA

Heat's Dru Smith: Able to practice Monday

Smith (calf) participated in practice Monday, Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald reports.

Smith was also able to suit up for Sunday's practice, so he appears to be trending in the right direction despite dealing with a right calf strain. More clarity on his status for Wednesday's regular-season opener should come once the team releases an injury report Tuesday evening.

  • Bam Adebayo C | MIA

Heat's Bam Adebayo: Takes part in practice Monday

Adebayo (groin) participated in Monday's practice, Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald reports.

Adebayo is battling with a right groin issue, though it's a good sign that he's been able to practice on back-to-back days. His availability for Wednesday's regular-season opener against the Timberwolves should become more clear once the team releases their first injury report Tuesday evening.

  • Pelle Larsson SF | MIA

    Heat's Pelle Larsson: Practices Monday

Larsson (illness) participated in Monday's practice, Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald reports.

Larsson sat out Miami's final two preseason games due to an illness, but this is the second practice he's completed, so he's trending in the right direction. We'll get another update Tuesday when the Heat release their official injury report for Wednesday's season opener against the Timberwolves.
