  • Giants' Russell Wilson: Expects to play next season

Wilson said Monday that he intends to continue playing in 2026, Connor Hughes of SNY.tv reports.

Wilson endured a rough 2025 campaign after joining the Giants on a one-year contract in March. The veteran signal-caller opened the season atop the depth but ended up lasting just three weeks as the starter, struggling mightily in Week 1 (against Washington) and Week 3 (against Kansas City) around a throwback Week 2 performance versus Dallas during which he threw for 450 yards and three touchdowns. Ironically, Wilson shared Monday that he actually suffered a Grade 2 hamstring tear on the final play of practice the Friday prior to the game against the Cowboys, per Hughes, making his monster performance all the more remarkable. Ultimately, Wilson appeared in just three more games following his demotion, completing four of nine passes for 53 yards and rushing twice for 12 yards in a backup role behind rookie Jaxson Dart before falling to the No. 3 spot on the depth chart (behind Dart and Jameis Winston) late in the campaign. Wilson is slated to be a free agent, and while his options are limited if he wants to have a chance to earn a starting role, there are a few NFL teams with shaky enough quarterback rooms to potentially give him that opportunity.

  • Giants' Russell Wilson: Emergency No. 3 QB again

Wilson is the Giants' emergency third QB for Sunday's game against the Raiders, Dan Salomone of the team's official site reports.

Jaxson Dart will thus be backed up by Jameis Winston on Sunday, with Wilson once again set to serve as the team's No. 3 QB in Week 17. Barring an injury to Dart or Winston, that's a role Wilson figures to reprise in next weekend's season finale.

  • Giants' Russell Wilson: Will be emergency QB again Week 16

Wilson (coach's decision) is inactive and serving as New York's emergency third quarterback in Sunday's matchup against Minnesota, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.

This will be the third straight game in which Wilson is the Giants' emergency quarterback. New York appears set on having Jaxson Dart behind center on game days with Jameis Winston as his backup. Wilson will be eligible to play Sunday only if both Dart and Winston have to exit due to injury, illness or ejection.

  • Giants' Russell Wilson: Emergency QB again

Wilson (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Commanders, but he will be available as the emergency third quarterback, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.

Wilson has bounced between being the backup and third quarterback in New York, depending on the health of Jaxson Dart. With both Dart and Jameis Winston ready to suit up Sunday, Wilson will be inactive against the Commanders but will remain eligible to enter the game if both of his teammates are injured or ejected.
