  • Ravens' Mike Davis: Finds home in Baltimore

Davis signed a one-year contract with the Ravens on Tuesday.

Baltimore explored signing other free agent running backs earlier this offseason, but the team passed on those options and only brought in rookie sixth-round pick Tyler Badie via the 2022 NFL Draft. Davis' arrival provides the Ravens with a proven veteran option while J.K. Dobbins (knee) and Gus Edwards (knee) work their way back from ACL tears. Davis was outplayed by Cordarrelle Patterson with the Falcons last season, but perhaps Baltimore's scheme will give the 29-year-old better opportunities for success. Back in 2020 with the Panthers, he racked up 1,015 scrimmage yards and eight total touchdowns in 15 games.

  • Mike Davis: Let go by Atlanta

The Falcons will release Davis (ribs) on Monday, NFL reporter Jordan Schultz reports.

The Falcons will save $2.5 million against the cap by moving on from Davis, who was quickly displaced by Cordarrelle Patterson as Atlanta's preferred option on the ground in 2021 after inking a two-year, $5.5 million deal last offseason. Another team may view the 29-year-old Davis as a decent depth option, but the Falcons appear set to proceed with fifth-round rookie Tyler Allgeier or veteran Damien Williams as the top complement to Patterson.

  • Falcons' Mike Davis: Fumbles twice in loss

Davis (ribs) rushed six times for 30 yards and caught all three of his targets for minus-2 yards during Sunday's 30-20 loss to the Saints. He also lost two fumbles.

Davis led the Falcons in rushing attempts and yards before leaving the game with a rib injury. In his first season with the Falcons, he finished with 138 rushes for 503 yards and three touchdowns, while adding 44 receptions and 259 yards and a score through the air. The veteran running back signed a two-year deal with Atlanta before the 2021 campaign and is expected to return to a similar role next season.

  • Falcons' Mike Davis: Hurts ribs in season finale

Davis injured his ribs during Sunday's game against the Saints, Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com reports.

Before his departure, Davis put together an ignominious stat line composed of six carries for 30 yards, three catches (on three targets) for minus-2 yards and two lost fumbles. With Davis out of the lineup, Cordarrelle Patterson and Qadree Ollison are the Falcons' options out of the backfield.

  • Falcons' Mike Davis: Paces backfield in loss

Davis rushed eight times for 42 yards and a touchdown while bringing in one of two targets for 15 yards in the Falcons' 29-15 loss to the Bills on Sunday.

Davis' rushing yardage total paced the Falcons on the afternoon and was his second-highest tally in that category since Week 5. The veteran has been more efficient on the ground in recent weeks with 4.6 yards per carry over his last five contests, but his modest volume while splitting the rushing workload with Cordarrelle Patterson is likely to cap his fantasy upside again in Week 18 versus the Saints.
