Steelers' DeShon Elliott: Officially sent to injured reserve
The Steelers placed Elliott (knee) on injured reserve Friday.
The move was expected and knocks Elliott out for at least the next four contests. Pittsburgh has already made a move to replace the injured safety after the team acquired Kyle Dugger from the Patriots in a trade earlier this week.

Steelers' DeShon Elliott: Week-to-week with knee injury
Head coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday that Elliott is considered "week-to-week" due to a knee injury he sustained during the Steelers' 35-25 loss to the Packers on Sunday, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
The initial fear out of the Steelers' camp was that Elliott's knee injury was season-ending, though the good news is that the 2018 sixth-rounder's ACL is intact, per Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com on Monday. Elliott will likely be ruled out for the Steelers' Week 9 clash against the Colts, and a stint on injured reserve is possible, though Tomlin relayed that any discussion of an IR stint has yet to happen. Chuck Clark, Jabrill Peppers and Juan Thornhill are expected to carry the load at safety for as long as Elliott is on the shelf.

Steelers' DeShon Elliott: Expected to land on IR
The Steelers are expected to place Elliott (knee) on IR due to an injury he sustained during Sunday's loss to the Packers, Alan Saunders of SteelersNow.com reports.
Steelers coach Mike Tomlin called Elliott "week-to-week" Tuesday, and the team also acquired Kyle Dugger in a trade with New England to provide additional depth at safety. Both developments are signals that Elliott's knee injury will require time on the sideline. Once officially placed on IR, Elliott will be ruled out for a requisite minimum of four games.

Elliott led the team in stops in Week 7, compiling at least six tackles for the fourth consecutive game. The safety was limited by a knee injury early in the year, but he has now registered 33 total tackles (19 solo), including 1.0 sacks, while also adding two passes defensed, one of which was an interception, and a forced fumble to this point in the campaign.

Elliott led the Steelers in stops while doubling his previous season-high mark. The veteran safety seems to be past the knee injury that caused him to miss two games earlier in the campaign. Elliott was held out of practice Tuesday for rest purposes, but there's no reason to think he's at risk of missing Thursday's matchup against Cincinnati.
