Jets' Mason Taylor: Coach anticipates Year 2 leap
Jets head coach Aaron Glenn named Taylor (neck) when asked Monday which players he anticipates taking a step forward in 2026, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.
Taylor missed the final four games of last season due to a neck injury, but there have been no indications that he will be hampered in OTAs. Across 13 regular-season appearances during his rookie campaign, Taylor secured 44 of 65 targets for 369 yards and one touchdown, solid totals considering the struggles of New York's aerial attack, which averaged a league-worst 140.3 passing yards per game. The arrival of Geno Smith should provide stability on that front, and Taylor is currently positioned as one of the new QB's top targets along with Breece Hall (knee), Garrett Wilson (knee) and Adonai Mitchell.

Jets' Mason Taylor: Placed on injured reserve
The Jets placed Taylor (neck) on injured reserve Saturday.
Taylor was already ruled out for Week 18 against the Bills, but the move corresponds with other moves the Jets made ahead of Sunday's regular-season finale. The rookie second-rounder ended up missing the final four games of the regular season due to a neck injury, but he should be healthy for the start of the 2026 campaign. Taylor will finish his first NFL season with 44 catches (on 65 targets) for 369 yards and one touchdown across 13 games.

Jets' Mason Taylor: Won't play in Week 18
Coach Aaron Glenn said Friday that Taylor (neck) won't play in the Jets' season finale against the Bills.
The same applies to Jelani Woods (hamstring), which leaves Jeremy Ruckert and Stone Smartt as the 3-13 Jets' top available tight ends this weekend. Taylor, who last played Week 14, thus finishes his rookie campaign with 44 catches for 369 yards and a TD (on 65 targets) in 13 regular-season contests. Looking ahead, the 2025 second-rounder should maintain his key role in New York's offense next season, but look for plenty of personnel changes this offseason in terms of the team's skill positions.

Jets' Mason Taylor: Still not practicing
Taylor (neck) did not practice Thursday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Taylor appears an unlikely candidate to retake the field in time for New York's season finale against the Bills. The rookie tight end hasn't played since Week 14, and he's now missed back-to-back practices in advance of Sunday's road divisional matchup. If Taylor can't play this weekend, he will wrap his rookie campaign with 44 catches for 369 yards and one score across 13 regular-season appearances.

Jets' Mason Taylor: Won't practice Wednesday
Taylor (neck) will not practice Wednesday, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.
Taylor hasn't played since Week 14. If the rookie tight end is unable to play in the Week 18 regular-season finale against the Bills, the Jets will once again roll with Jeremy Ruckert, Stone Smartt and Jelani Woods at tight end.

Jets' Mason Taylor: Won't play Sunday
Taylor (neck) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Patriots.
Taylor, who last saw game action Week 14, thus will target a potential return to action in the Jets' season finale next weekend when the team faces the Bills in Week 18. In Taylor's continued absence, Jeremy Ruckert, Stone Smartt and Jelani Woods will handle TE duties versus New England. During New York's Week 16 loss to New Orleans, Smartt was the busiest of the trio, catching all five of his targets for 34 yards, while Ruckert caught two of his three targets for 14 yards and Woods didn't record a catch (on two targets).
