College basketball rankings: No. 5 in Top 25 (and 1) Louisville has new plan for UVa
The No. 9 Cavaliers play host to the Cardinals and have beaten them three consecutive times
Virginia has beaten Louisville three straight times - most recently in late December - and is 4-1 against the Cardinals since Rick Pitino's program joined the ACC.
"I think we've played them wrong," Pitino acknowledged last week.
And so it'll be interesting to see what adjustments the Cardinals make, and whether they're successful, when they visit Virginia Monday night for a showdown between two schools ranked in the top 10 of the CBS Sports Top 25 (and one). More than anything, Pitino explained, he's going to ask his players to forget about running sets and challenge them to beat Virginia off of the dribble. By his estimation, that's the only way to score consistently enough to beat the Cavaliers.
"It's not about an offense you're going to run," Pitino said. "It's going to come down to individual players breaking them down and making shots off of the passes."
Louisville is No. 5 in the Top 25 (and one).
Virginia is No. 9.
